I am looking to get a away for a few days in the next couple of months, and I am thinking a cruise would be nice. I'd like to do a 3 or 4 day Mexican cruise out of LA or Long Beach.

Which website can I get the best bargain. I am flexible on the date.

If cruising in the next couple months, you might be able to get some good 'last minute' fares through vacationstogo. Another site to check out might be cruisecompete.

We've used cruise compete before. The site will have several travel agents posts rates for you. Many times the rate is the same for all of them but the amount of on board credit can differ. Definitely worth a look if you don't mind using a TA.

Go to cruisecritic.com. You'll find lots of information there.

I went to this website, found the price was the same on Disney cruise website, but saw their were on board credits if you book by 4/28 & traveled by sept. do you find it's just the on board credits is where you save? Not on paying for ctual cruise itself?

The cruise line itself if under the 45 day mark. I've booked 5 night Carnival cruises for under $350 a person a month out.

It's a gamble but if you're flexible why not.

Couponing to Disney had a deal the other day for last minute restricted guarantee (I think that was the term) for upcoming Disney sailings. Sounded like you needed to call disney directly and purchase fully during the call, but it sounded like some great deals were available for upcoming sailings.

I do think that most often it's the extras you get that make the difference. The cruiselines I have experience with are going to cost the same for a given sailing no matter who you buy from, but it's the onboard credit, or fruit baskets or etc etc where the differences in TA come in.

You can check out the last minute cruises on bestpricecruises and crucon websites also.

But FYI - looking at sailing schedules, you probably won't have much of a ship choice leaving out of LA/Long Beach the next couple months for a Mexican 3/4 day sailing (looks like mostly just Carnival).

This time of year a lot of ships pull out to do the Alaska season. For example NCL has a special for a May 3rd 5 night sailing on the Pearl for $179 pp out of LA - but it ends in Vancouver (LA-San Fran - Victoria - Vancouver) :).

Try Costco, you get a rebate in the form of a Costco card after your vacation.
We love the repositioning cruises, we have done them a few times. You get a great fare. Usually departs California in May and arrives in Vancouver or Seattle. Or wait for Sept. or October for a departure from Seattle or Vancouver to California. We usually don't pay more than $300.00 pp for a four or five night cruise.

I sign up for cruise line specific email. Lots of specials like on board credit, upgrade, and last minute rates.
