We took our first vacation last November, but my youngest was 2, so she was free and we stayed at Pop. This time, we'll have to stay somewhere that can accommodate all five of us. Suggestions???

Depends on the budget - 2 connecting value resort rooms; a family suite at AoA; a room at POR - Alligator Bayou section might still be able to accomodate 5; there are some deluxe resorts that can sleep 5 (AKL?); a 2 bedroom villa at a DVC resort.

Hi!
It depends on what you mean by best.
For our family of 5 the best usually means easiest - which means a deluxe like BWI, BC or Poly.
Last year when we were more budget conscious we chose AoA Lion King Family Suite. Still not totally inexpensive but our kids are a little older so having two bathrooms was good.
I have friends who stay at POR because there are rooms there that accomodate 5 but I have never stayed there.
I also have friends who swear by the cabins at FW for their families of 5.
Hope that helps!

I'd prefer not to drop a ton of money on the room. I looked at AoA, but wasn't sure what other options there were. Thank you!

The cheapest would be POR in Alligator Bayou, followed by 2 rooms at a value or 2 rooms at another moderate. All of the deluxes (except WL and AKL) accommodate 5 in a standard room, but are quite a bit more expensive than what 2 rooms at a value or mod would be.

If you are considering a suite at AoA, I would run numbers for renting DVC- a 1br has a king bed, pull out couch, and a pull out chair that are pretty comfy. Depending on where you'd like to stay you could end up with a lot more room, more amenities, and in room laundry.

Not all DVC 1 br's accomodate 5. They'll let you put 5 in DVC 1 br's but many only have beds for 4. BLT does have sleeping for 5 in the 1 BR but BC and BWV do not.

True, and adding that animal kingdom lodge does have regular (not value) villas that accomodate 5 as well.

What about the suites at AS Music? We checked those out years ago they were great & the price was right. Alligator Bayou at POR is a good option too. Has 2 queen beds & a murphy bed. Room is quite nice, and the resort itself is gorgeous. Has quiet pools in the different areas and large food court, etc. Boats to DTD are a plus too. We just stayed there 2x in April in a preferred AB room so that we were closer to the buses, food court, etc. There's a huge POR thread you can check out for more information on the resort if you end up leaning that way.:beach:

We have in the past stayed at POR Alligator Bayou and found it to be ok for us when we had 5 in the party as there was always a young one who would be enamored of the trundle bed, at least for the length of the stay. It isn't however, as the PP mentioned, a murphy bed. A murphy bed pulls out of a cabinet or the wall and a trundle slides under the normal bed. I debated commenting on that as I didn't want to sound like a SA but a few folks have described it like that and I did want to mention it as someone might think a grown up( or 2) could sleep on it and that certainly isn't the case. It is good for about up to a ten year old IMO.

For us it would be BLT 1BR, otherwise Deluxe at BC, YC, BWI, GF, POLY.

If on a budget I would consider Swan & Dolphin. Would need to factor in no ME ($65 each way for a family of 5). But we liked it way better than any Value/Mods and SSR/OKW/AKL.

We just stayed in AB building 14 three weeks ago & the Murphy bed slides out of a cabinet looking thing in the wall. There aren't any trundle beds since the remodel. We actually didn't need the bed so we left it in place & used it for our luggage rack. There's pictures somewhere that shows the Murphy bed.

We just returned from POR last month and we love it (and we are sort of hotel snobs). It's the perfect blend of family friendly and still civilized for adults.

The pull down bunk bed is very cool, the kids loved it.

We are a family of 5 and fit comfortably.

We were room 1621 - right next to preferred rooms, but standard rate, very close to main pool and food/lobby.
