I havnt got a clue about Euro's and was wondering if anyone has any tips of how they manage to work out Euros- British pounds??

Many thanks xx

the way i used to do it before the exchange rate got so bad was to divide the amount in euros by 3 then times by2 to give you the amount in pounds e.g 15 euros would be £10 but that doesn't work quite so accurately now. when you get your money changed you should hopefully have a currency converter given to you with your money (marks and spencer do anyway):thumbsup2

I got Euros earlier today and when I got them it was for every pound you got one euro and 20 cents, so they are nearly equal now.

Oh dear, there exchange rate is really low now :sad2:
But if they are almost equal, i suppose its easier to work out!

If you have a small calculator or a calculator on your phone, take it with you. Just divide the total by the exchange rate. i.e. 30 euros divided by 1.20= £25

OOOOOOH thats a FAB tip, thank u very much :thumbsup2

I have two ways of dealing with this:

1. Constantly ask DH "how much is that?how much is that? how much is that? how much is that? how much is that? " over and over :)

2. Ignore the price completely and just buy it if you want it because everything is so stupidly expensive that you'd have a heart attack if you worked out the price in Sterling :)

That describes me exactly - :rotfl:

1 euro = .79 pence at the moment so not great if your currency is sterling - cant believe only 6 months ago it was 1 euro = 67 pence thats 18% decrease in the value of the pound since Easter.............:headache:

Yes, the tip is NOT to look at how much the APs cost this time last year, as it breaks your heart to see that, although the price hasn't gone up in Euros, the conversion to sterling certainly has.:sad2:

For the "real" rate at the moment : Divide the euro cost by 5, then times by 4

For the exchange rate you seem to get in most shops (1.2ish I think it is) : Divide by 6, then times by 5...

Quick conversion we used this week is E5 = £4

eg E35 = 7x4 = £28 (really £27.84), close enough.

Don't agree with Number 1 at all, OMG he'd never let me by anything.:scared1:

Like Number 2 though and you are on holiday after all. :rotfl:

I tend to just round up or down to get an idea.

The way the rate is at the moment, I'd be working on 10 euros = £8, 5 euros = £4, it's not exact but it's near enough for me. :)

I just work on the principle that it's not as expensive as it seems ~ for example it's ten euros not ten pounds :lmao: :lmao:
