Best Way To Watch The Magic Leave Port?

We will be arriving at Cape Canaveral onthe Sat before our Wonder cruise on Sunday and staying at the Radisson. We were all wanting to see the Magic leave port that Sat afternoon. Has anyone done that and what is the best way? Is there any special place to go do that and will the Radisson provide a shuttle for such a thing???? Thanks for any help

Try Jetty Park. It is not a very far drive, and If you wanted to you could walk (about 2 miles from the Radisson). See Dave's map:

Many on this board suggest going to a restaurant called Grills to watch the Magic leave. When it is our turn in May 2004 to go on the Wonder, we will eat an early dinner there on Saturday night.

The area around Grills Seafood is a great location. We go there frequently. Lots of activity while you are waiting. You do not have to use the restaurant facilities to enjoy the view. There is a public boat ramp and a grassy area right along the channel. Many times the ship will blow the horn as it passes this location, and you can see down the channel to the terminal and watch the ship pull out. Don't know about transport from the hotel, since we drive there from home to watch the ship leave.

The best place to watch the Magic depart from is from the party on the deck!

the Jetties is a beautiful place to watch the Magic approaching and then seeing her go out into the big wide ocean - only one problem, it does cost to go to the jetties - in all honesty, I do not remember how much - the charge is by vehicle and not persons - now it does a variety of things to do - playgrounds, picnicing, snacks booth, nice bathrooms with showers, (last time I was there, I was impress how clean it was) - they do have an upstairs deck with a panaramic view - there is fishing and then of course swimming - they do have a pier that seems to go on forever -
As for Grills, that too is a neat place and you can sit down out of the heat with a kool drink in your hands and you don't have to walk any where and you can be waited on - you don't have the view that you do have from the end of the jetties, but the ships seems so close, that you feel you can reach out and touch them -
The famous horns seems to take turns at where they blew them - I have heard them at Rusty's, at Grills - so where ever you are, you will hear them.
Nope the Radisson does not supply transportation there - you will have to either rent a car or grab a taxi for walking is out of the question since the traffic is serious over A1A - not worth the chance.

We've done Grills before our last two Wonder cruises. It is a great place to watch the ships from. You can either sit out on the deck and order food or you can go out on the deck next door if you just want a drink and to listen to the band (they usually have a bank playing on Saturday night).

As Shirley said you really can't walk there as you are on highway part of the way. I'd say either grab a cab or do what we do and rent a one way rental from the airport and turn it in after dinner.

It is a great way to get your cruise party started. The ship often does blow its horn when it gets near Grills. The best part is that the very next day you are on the Wonder sailing past Grills!

That Grills place sounds like the ticket to me!! We have to eat anyway that evening. I went on their website and the Menu and atmosphere sounds great! They also have a coupon you can print out for 10% off your meal if you show a hotel key and out of state Drivers L. I just figure we can catch a taxi to take us to the restaurant??? I don't know how else we could do it????
