best way to use FP+

now that we're onsite, I'd really like to take a rest and go back to the park. Can you schedule Fp+ for the evenings? Some days MK is open to 1am! I thought we'd do rope drop and do standby lines for our favorites. should we then schedule FP+ or would that be a good time to leave the park when it's most crowded? use FP+ in the evening?

I would utilize RD for all of the popular attractions and then book FP+ for the late afternoon/evening to minimize wait times.
