Best way to take off wallpaper?

Just finished removing wall paper in February. It took some time and a little aggravation. Tried the paper tiger found it worthless. I ended up peeling the top vinyl like layer off then using M1 from home depot but DIF is the same did not use the gel. Let it soak in for 5 minutes then peeled it off in whole sheets. The left over pieces and excess paste I used a kitchen sponge (rough side) and M1 remover. It wasn't as bad as I feared but took 8 hours to do a small bathroom. Like someone before me said try it before you pay someone to do it.

We actually purchased a black and decker wall paper steamer. For the most part it works like a charm. We purchased ours back in the early 90's but I assume they can still be purchased even if it's not B&D.

I've had great luck with scoring and spraying with HOT (boiling)vinegar and water. then scraping while still warm. Sand when done to remove any residue.

Just a thought though before you go to too much work scoring, etc. If there is a spot that's loose at all anywhere (even if there is a bubble) - lightly lift it up with a scraper and then PULL! I had entire sections of my wallpaper that would come right off with no vinegar no scraping because of the type of adhesive used. Then I did light spray with vinegar, a light scraping and sanded any remnants (not that there were many).
