Best way to send Room Request?

Just in the last few posts here - one says they have a 75% success rate and one has zero success...weirdly inconsistent...or maybe not.

May have something to do with what is requested as well. Some requests are very popular so the success rate will be lower.

We have stopped requesting because we get there and just tell them we want the first available!

This is usually what we do but being that Sep. will be our first stay at our home resort of Riviera (finally after nearly 2 yrs of ownership!) , we'd like a higher floor with fireworks view for our Standard 2 BR, even if we have to wait a bit.

I've always emailed MS and generally get a response within a week or 2 that it was received

If you make a "general" request eg: near pool. do you find that more sucessful than saying"I want room 123 walk out to the pool".

It is much more likely to be successful, I’ve heard, if you give them a lot of choices or a more general range. So, for VGC we gave a list of about 6 room numbers and got our second choice. At AKV we requested even numbered room for value, and got it (those are the Savannah vies).

Did they give an excuse for not considering a room change? Covid, booked solid, didn't want to be bothered, etc?
No, reason was given from the middle- aged gentleman that checked us in. (We went to front desk instead of online check-in because we had made a room request.) I mentioned the room was not in the tower we had requested and was told room requests are just that "requests". I knew this and just took the room I was registered for. Initially, I was not impressed with the Riveria although it is new and shiny but after a couple days it did grow on us a bit. It feels so much like a hotel as opposed to the Grand Floridian. I should also mention we had excellent experiences with front desk employees, Josh and Matt on other days of our stay there. Josh is the best!! Fun, personable, and a great rep of the WDW organization. (He was our tech help with RotR and a TV issue.) Matt got us a taxi when after 75 minutes our Magic Express bus never showed. We appreciated the great service of both these young men.

Thanks for the reply and glad to hear Riv grew on you!

I wonder whether room requests are more or less successful depending upon which resort you stay at.

From DVC website:
You can now chat online with Member Services to update reservation requests, bank vacation points, ask questions and more. Chat is available when chat icon is active.

Just a note about even number value rooms, the pool view values are also even number (only the parking lot views are odd number so still a good request).

Can I ask as a new DVC owner, when is the best time to do a room request. How long before check in are the rooms assigned?

It really doesn't matter when you make the request. I've made requests 11 months out as well as just a couple of months out depending on when I know that I'll be keeping that reservation. I'm not certain when they assign rooms but I'd want to have a request in at least a couple of weeks prior to check in.

Thanks for the heads up. I always thought that you couldn’t make requests for Value rooms.
I really want a pool view at Jambo so was going to try my luck tonight on chat and see if they could add it.

Edit. Requested 5024 which from vids has a beautiful pool view. Not too far from the lobby either it seems. I said any other pool view is fine if that one wasn’t available

What email address do you use to connect with MS pls?
thanks!
Wow, another big change. In the past, if you clicked on Help and Contact or Contact Us up at the top of the member webpage, you'd get a link to email them as well as a link to open a chat window and the member phone number. I just looked, and now the only options are for chat or calling! If you click Helpful Contacts, you get a full page listing hours of operation, mailing addresses and phone numbers of the different DVC areas, starting with Sales, and a link to start a chat. No email addresses anywhere. Another big change, another big disappointment.

Edited to add the link to the page - it is not behind the member login. That's why Sales is first, I guess. https://disneyvacationclub.disney.go.com/contact/

Glad I'm not losing my mindo_O, looked for the contact email webpage earlier and didn't find it. That why I posted the info about chat. Agree, very disappointing:sad2:
