Hi all,

Hoping some of the veterans of Fort Wilderness can help me out. It's our first time at Disney during the holidays (not at FW though) and I wondered what was the best way to see all the fantastic decorations people put up? After searching for an answer (but not finding one) I know that Disney plans on "limiting" decorations more this year , but I'm betting people will still come up with great scenes.

I don't think we can rent a golf cart after 5 or so, since we'd like to see the displays at night. Should we book a sleigh ride? Just ride the different buses around?

This trip is only four days, but I'm calling it the we need new inspiration for our own decorations...ok it's really just an excuse so I can see WDW at the holidays ;). FW is definitely something I'd like to see. We have just a small house but light it up as best we can, and love seeing what others do.

Thanks so much for all your input.

Your decorations rock. :thumbsup2

A sleigh ride would be better than a bus. Or/and walk around the loops closest to the marina. 700 is usually the loop to see.

From the Settlement Trading Post (near the Trail's End Buffet) you can walk through a very short path into the 100 loop of campsites. Walk around the 100, 200 and 300 loops, then cross the road and walk through the 500 loop on your way to the 700 loop, then back to the Settlement.

This will take about an hour and you will see plenty of amazing decorations!

There are also some very good ones in the 1600 loop and other loops as well, but they are a longer walk. If you are riding a bus you will see some of them on your way to the Settlement.

Plan to finish a bit before 9:00 and then head to the beach. Grab an adult beverage from Crocketts Tavern and then watch the Wishes fireworks from the beach. They pipe in the soundtrack. It's great!

Shortly after Wishes is finished the Electric Water Pageant sails by.

It really makes a MAGICAL night!

If you can't get a golf cart walking is the next best thing. Most holiday decorations are in 100, 300,700 and 800. We have a golf cart and only use it to get to the loop then we take our time walk around and look at the decorations and talking to the people. If you bus it you only see the ones by the road and very fast. The sleigh ride is nice it slower but you only go to a few loops I don't think it werth the money for something you can take your time and see for free. Hope this helps

I just wanted to thank you all for your suggestions. I think I'd rather walk the loops than rely on the sleigh ride, plus we won't be tide to a certain time frame.

Just wanted to say I LOVE your decorations! And yes, walking around the loops at the Fort is probably your best bet, the best decorations are the loops within easy walking distance of the Settlement. After that you could always hop a bus to cruise the campground and look out for any other good ones!
Enjoy your trip!!

I would just start out walking. Enjoy the sights.
You always hop a bus to take you back to your starting point if you get pooped.
I would bet you will be so inspired that you won't need to take a bus back.

Thanks - for the compliment. We try and get brighter every year, so I thought this year we'd hit Disney for some inspiration.

Hmmm - never thought about walking back. I'll have to make sure we have a map with us.

Thanks to all on this thread - we have decided to skip the sleigh ride and just walk around the loops. That way we are not locked in to certain times and can take our time.

Thanks again!
