Best way to put in request for connecting rooms at POP Century

For our upcoming trip over New Years I REALLY need connecting rooms. We have 6 kids with us. Due to some different issues, it takes both DH and I working together to care for all of them. So I'm really nervous about receiving non connecting rooms... even though I know this is very much a possiblity.

What is the best way to put in the request for connecting rooms? Any particular number to call?

Call the Main Reservations line give them both reservation numbers and have them noted as traveling with. Then make "connecting with res #xxxxxxx" the only request for both rooms.

Have never had to ask for connecting rooms, so I am relying on the info I have seen here on the board. That being said, any kind of room request is only a request and Disney will not hold rooms for any group. I have read that a family arrived early, checked their bags and proceeded to the parks after the cast member informed them they would receive a text message with their room information which they did indeed receive. They did not go immediately back to the resort to "claim " their room and it was assigned to another family. Disney did send them an update text informing them of the change in room assignment which they did not notice so, when they arrived at the resort their wristband things did not open the room. Had to go to front desk to fix the mess. I think this is a true assessment as to how much of a chance you actually have of getting connected rooms. I hope you do but I would hold your breath.

First, CONGRATULATIONS on knowing that you need CONNECTING - far too many people still mix "connecting" and "adjoining".

I would call and have it noted as well as noting that it is due to children in the second room. I used to work at a hotel (not Disney), and I know there if the "children" notation was on a connecting room request, that gave that connecting request priority over requests that just said connecting and did not list due to children. It was still not a guarantee, but "children" seemed to be the magic word because NO ONE wants to deal with a room of unsupervised kids (the image that a connecting due to children request conjures up).

Call WDW reservations and request connecting rooms. There isn't a special request you can make, just connecting rooms. Children in the other room won't make much difference, as there are two adults and they can split up between rooms, even though they might not have intended to. This would make a huge difference only where there is just one adult. But it can't hurt to mention it.

Don't make any other requests.

Even if the CM on the phone tells you that they can guarantee connecting rooms, they can't. If you don't get the connecting rooms, be ready to go to the front desk and ask for them.

I'm just saying that at at least one other BIG hotel (which doesn't want unsupervised kids either), saying it was because of children GREATLY increased your odds BECAUSE they don't want unsupervised kids.

All it would take would be one complaint about unsupervised kids. Not saying the OP would do that at all, but if people choose to put their kids alone in a room without supervision they are risking being told to leave.

My point was to SAY "due to children" in the request - even if the parents intend to split between the rooms. Not to encourage anyone to stay parents in one room, children in another. I was just stating that that particular wording in most cases gives that request priority over just a generic "requests connecting rooms" request.

The OP asked the best way to request connecting rooms. I was just informing her that at least at other hotels, the best way to bump the request up the priority ladder is to say "due to children".
