I'm scanning ALL the photos we have...

And some are very old....

My grandma died 10 years ago and when my grandpa moved.. he left us a lot of photos...

I'm scanning all of them and putting them on cds...

At the moment I am putting them in ziploc bags according to some categories...

What's the best way to keep them?

I'm also hoping to find old Disney photos to share with you all......

I know my grandparents have been there a lot :)

If you have any of the negatives, you can get the best quality scanning those with a decent negative scanner. The "good" ones start at $500 and go up (way up), the good news is that they retain their value nearly 100% so you can resell on eBay when you're done and get your money back.

You can also get good results using something like an Epson 4490, which is an under-$200 flatbed scanner than can scan negatives (as well as anything else you have.) It won't have quite the quality of a dedicated negative scanner but will certainly be better than scanning the prints. It also has "digital ICE" which helps a lot to clean up dust on the negative.

As for storing them afterwards... I'm no expert but I suspect you're on the right track with ziploks. Cool and dry is the way to go, as I understand it.
