Best way to get to downtown disney from the airport

We're arriving the day before our cruise and are staying at the airport hotel. That evening we would like to go to downtown disney. What is the best way to get down there from the airport and back?

IMO, since you are at an airport hotel, just take the hotel shuttle back to MCO and pick up a rental car. With a discount code, you can get a compact for $35 for the day. With gas, tolls and tax, figure $60. You might be able to get it cheaper by searching or using Priceline a few days before.

A taxi would be the easiest, but a rental car would be quite a bit cheaper.
