Best way to get out after MSEP

I was wondering what the best way to get out right after Main Street Electrical Parade. It's before Wishes and I know Mom won't make it until 11 PM (1/2 hour after Wishes at 10 PM). Will the Main Street Bypass be open at that point on a May night or Am I better off just getting out at 8:30 PM (1/2 hour before MSEP)? Mom will be in a Scooter and am trying to give her some night activities while not overwhelming her.

It's is VERY hard to leave the parks in a scooter for at least 1/2 hour after the parade or fireworks, due to the crowds. Your best bet is to either leave before MSEP, (use the street, the sidewalks will be packed with parade watchers staking out their spot), or wait until 1/2 hour after the parade or fireworks. Get a cold drink or ice cream and just watch the amazing tide of humanity attempting to leave the parks. Then she will be so glad she is not trying to navigate a scooter in those crowds.

I would wait the 30 minutes after the parade to let most of the people leaving get out before you try to leave and yes I have used a scooter myself. In fact I find it easier to leave 30 minutes after WISHES than between MSEP and WISHES but that is just me

I would suggest watching the parade at the very front of the park near the train station so as soon as it is done, you can make a quick exit before everyone else runs for the exits. :)

This is my suggestion too

In February, we watched MSEP at the front near the train station. It is the beginning of the parade route and it was easy to exit afterwards. We then went to the TTC, watched the fireworks from the TTC and hopped in the car. Note: The music is piped in at the TTC near the boat dock, but it was too quiet to hear well.

I would recommend asking your mom what she might like to do. Maybe she wants to see Wishes, too, but with the understanding that it will be a late night (so maybe you get started a little later that morning). She might solve the problem for you.

I would watch the parade on the corner by the barber shop and the Emporium. This is where is starts and comes out of the gate. We watched it here last year and left quickly after. No crowds.

We saw MSEP from in front of the Hall of Presidents, nearly at the end of the route. As we walked out toward the center of the park, everyone who had already seen MSEP was waiting for the fireworks was waiting near the castle. We stayed on the left (Frontierland/Adventureland) side and had no trouble avoiding the people and heading down to main street.

Many of the streets were packed with people, however the CMs were asking people not to stop on the sidewalks and leave them free for people passing through. We had no trouble getting to the exit.

Go to the town hall near the front gate. Just past town hall on the left you will see a large gate, this is where the parade floats come from backstage to start the parade. When facing the main park, main street will be across the street to your right. This is a good place to watch the parade, but not for fireworks. Once the parade is done, just turn around and go down the town hall side of the entrance plaza to the gate. Since you are at the beginning of the parade and right by the entrance you will be at the front of any crowds. This shouldn't be difficult at all. I haven't watched the fireworks from the TTC, but that sounds like a good idea as well.

In December 2014 with my mother in scooter and that was our approach, but if renting keep in mind that it may take 5-10 minutes to turn it in and then use wheelchair to buses. Still with that delay we were able to stay ahead of most of the departing crowd (I can walk fast even while pushing wheelchair if needed!)
