We won't have a car so we need to take a shuttle to and from the airport. What is the most reliable and economic option? Also we don't need to leave until late on check out day since we are just heading to an airport hotel. Can we leave late and still get a shuttle?

Which airport are you flying into? Los Angeles, Orange County or Long Beach? It makes a difference as far as options go. ;)

Ok. Well we are flying into SNA (Orange) BUT it seems for BOTH locations, a great deal is the Disneyland Resort Express! From LAX it's $99.00 round trip for up to a family of 5. It's a better deal than most shuttles, and it runs on the hour and half hour, so a lot less waiting than most shared shuttles. That being said, rental cars ARE cheaper through LAX, so you could rent a car for up to a week for just like $50 more than the shuttle would cost if it would be convenient to have a car for you. Taxis would be WAY expensive and, like I said, it seems most shuttles are more than the Disneyland resort express with their family roundtrip deal. ;)

Actually, I just read that you only have 2 adults and 1 kid, SO it would be even cheaper for you if you did the regular round trip fair on the disneyland resort express instead of the family 5 pack! It's cost you $30 for each adult and $23 for a child's pass. So only $83. Not too shabby! Plus, I love that the bus is colorful and says Disneyland with the castle on it and such! Makes it more exciting to ride I think! It also has a potty on it and plenty of room for luggage. ;)

Where do you go to sget the disneyland resort shuttle? We are also looking for a way to spring the suprise on DS so showing up at a big bus saying "Disneyland" might be a good idea.

Here is the link for the DLRX info. It would pick you right up at the airport and drop you off somewhere right in front of most all the hotels in anaheim. It's so funny that you mentioned springing the surprise this way! That is exactly what we are gonna do with our three girls...well considering I can actually keep the dang surprise on the mum! LOL We are gonna tell them on the plane that we are going to visit relatives (they already think next Disney trip isn't for 2 years!) and then spring the surprise on them when we get to board the DISNEYLAND bus!! Yeeeaaahhh! Can't wait to see their faces and hear their squeals of excitement! :D Besides all that fun, like I said, the price actually pans out to be better than most regular shuttle services out there anyway. ;)

A stretched black limousine!

ETA... Oops... I missed the part of the question where is says "economical"

DS knows we are going to Hawaii but it only cost $100 extra pp to stop for 3 days and we have the dvc points availible so we decided to take a detour. We figured DL would just be an added bonus.

That sounds perfect! So fun! :D

And haha Crazyduck on the Limo! We can dream, right?! LOL

Hey you only live once right? This was my DS4 at the time when we went in Feb 2010... BTW it was $190 each way from LAX to GCH... but it can hold 10 people so ;)

The Disneyland Resort Express is a service run by Grayline. There are fairly strict hours, so look thoroughly at their hours-of-service information, maybe even call them, to make SURE you can get on it if you're leaving late.

A shuttle, like Super Shuttle or Karmel Shuttle, might be better, for more personal service.

BUT if you're going to an airport hotel up near LAX, rather than going to the airport and then calling the hotel and catching their shuttle, it might save time and hassle and get you to the airport quicker which gets you more sleep which makes the next part of your journey nicer, if you find a way that takes you hotel door to HOTEL door (and that is NOT going to be the Express bus, and might be more expensive than taking the *airport* shuttle services). I'm pretty sure that a place like Super or Karmel Shuttle could accomodate it, but it might be a bit more costly, so...get the information and figure out what's in the money and time budget!

You might want to look into Getawaytoday. They have a deal right now where adults pay the kids price for the Disneyland Express. You need to make sure you get both directions as you have to add direction each separately.

Have a great trip and I hope you enjoy Hawaii!

They should start paying me as a sponsor, but we LOVE American Limo. :) We have used them for years. If you have a big group or weird airport hours a limo service can be cheaper and easier than a lot of shuttles.

Our usual flight gets in LAX late, too late for a typical shuttle. We pay $99 one way for a super stretch for the 7 of us. Works great and we don't have multiple stops. Can't beat their service.
