Hi, we are heading to Disney next week, staying at Coronado Springs. My daughter talked me into to going to a concert "Of Monsters and Men'" playing at The Beacham on Nov. 30.So what would be the best way to get there?I am thinking a taxi, or course that would be the most expensive $$,but open to all suggestions. what taxi companies are the best/most reliable??
thanks! Lor

You should consider a 1-day car rental from one of the companies that have a location on-property. Rentals are 24-hours so you could pick it up one day and return it the next day at your convenience. Besides the cost of the rental, you'd have to put some gasoline in it but a roundtrip to downtown would not be much. Parking downtown evenings are flat rate; city lots are $10 while a lot of private lots are just $5. If you can find a metered spot on one of the streets, they are free after 6pm and a few quarters beforehand. All this would cost a lot less than a roundtrip taxi, especially a slow taxi driving to downtown on I-4 during rush hour.

Since the show begins at 6pm, you might consider arriving a couple hours early and have dinner downtown, thus getting ahead of rush hour. Driving back after the show, I-4 should be wide-open. There are many Friday night nightclub options available in and around The Beacham after the show too.
Should be a very fun night in O-Town.

Ha, my daughter and her friend that is going are 15 and 16 , so I don't think I will be able to have a fun night on the town! haha I wish.
I thought about a car rental but am not sure how comfortable I am with that , don't know how far away from the Beacham I would have to park ,and not familar at all with the area dont know if I want to be walking to wherever the car is parked at 11pm or midnight. like how safe is it?
I checked taxi fare estimator and is about $60 one way,if they are accurate, we might try and bus it there and cab it back.

There is Lynx bus service from various spots around Disney to Lynx Central Station at downtown Orlando. From there it's a few blocks east to Orange Avenue and then a few blocks south to The Beacham. The bus is cheap; the taxi back not so. That would be your only option back after the bus service ends.

As for driving a rental car, it's really simple and there is ample parking all over downtown within a block of The Beacham. I'm not in a position to guarantee your safety, of course. Crime can happen anywhere although it's very unlikely. Downtown Orlando has LOTS of people walking around on Friday and Saturday nights though, it's well-lighted and there are plenty of OPD officers around. Should you decide to do a rental car, please feel free to PM me and I'll be happy to provide you step-by-step directions getting into downtown and back out again....in one piece! Again, it's very simple.

Thanks, I checked out the bus idea to get there and I think we''ll try that if i can figure out what busses to take and then just cab it back, just not brave enough to try drving down there!

Well that will certainly work. Check the 300-series at the Lynx website for buses that go to Lynx Central Station which is downtown. It's then a 10-minute walk to The Beacham.

I think all 300-series buses pick-up passengers from Downtown Disney West Side, out in the parking lot beyond Cirque.

Any taxi company can return you from downtown to Disney World. Make sure there is a meter however if you can get a driver to accept a flat rate, that might be a better deal.
