Wow!! I've been around the Dis for a few months now and never hopped onto the transportation board.............pretty neat over here!!

Anyway, I would like to go to the ESPN club (I hope that's the name of it)for an early dinner one night after a long day at the parks. We'll be a party of me, DH, and 2DS's 5 & 2. Which park is the restaurant closest to, and most importantly, what is the best way to get there? We'll be staying off-site, and renting a car. thanks so much

You could be at either MGM or Epcot. With small children, I would probably go with MGM, as the walk all the way across the park to the front after dinner and then to the car would be a little tiresome. Catch a boat outside the gates of MGM, to the right facing the park, and get off at the Boardwalk stop. The ESPN bar can be seen to the left near the end of the boardwalk. To go back to your car, just catch the boat back to MGM and then the parking lot. Ask how late the boats will transport back to MGM at the information building right before you get to the parked buses before taking the boat to make sure you can get back to the parking lot. If you will be at EPSN after MGM closes, you may want to park at Epcot. From Epcot, you can take the boat from the International Gateway entrance in World showcase and again get off at the Boardwalk.

Make reservations for the espn club, and take your car with you. Park at the Boardwalk. The guard will give you a temporary pass. Without reservations, you can still park there--if a spot is available. You don't need to choose a park based on location for the espn club. You can walk, or take a boat from epcot or mgm, or take the boardwalk bus from mk, or ak.

the ESPN club does not takes ressies. If you never been there they have 2 sides. The lines can get big at times for the restarurant left side but you can seat yourself in the bar area on the right (at bar or booths or tables) if you can find one open. food is very good. TRY THE DINGERS boneless wings

If you leave your car at Epcot go eat at ESPN early eve. and get done in time to go back through IG and watch the fireworks ( ILLUM) over by Canada. then leave from there for your car.

As far as I can remember, you can't make reservations at ESPN Club. Whenever we've been there, it was first come first served. So if you do go, don't get there too late or you'll have quite a wait to get seated.

I was told by wdw dine and the desk at the boardwalk that you can get same day reservations by going to espn club. I just spoke with a cm at espn club who told me that the best you can do is get your name on a list when you get there. You can still park at BW.

ok, so we've established they don't take reservations, and ESPN club is at the Boardwalk. If we decide not to take the boat over from a park (which the kids would LOVE I'm sure) we can park at the Boardwalks parking lot?? I've read that some resorts (like POR) have someone checking when you pull up to make sure you have reservations at that resort before you can park there..............

Yes, you can park at the Boardwalk (although in the general lot, not up close to the resort) because it's an entertainment and shopping area.
And yes, some resorts restrict parking access to three hours for dining/shopping. Primarily, that's the Deluxe Resorts in the Magic Kingdom and Epcot areas - to leave spaces for each Resort's Guests (and probably to prevent Disney from losing revenue from Guests who park free in a Resort's lot and then go directly to the adjacent - or any other - theme park).

also about the ESPN you can put your name on a list when you get there but your whole party needs to be there. we tried this while waiting for someone up in the room and the CM said they won't sign you up until all are present.
