Best way to eat something from every country in World Showcase??

We'll be in Epcot for one day. We're doing rides in the morning, returning to hotel for lunch/rest and returning for an evening at World Showcase.

My DD8 wants to have dinner there, eating something from every country. She wants an authentic sampling but obviously, isn't going to be able to eat more than a little from each country or she'll fill up before making it to all of them. (For example, buy an egg roll from China and split it)

Do you have suggestions for the best counter service items in the different countries? What are your favorites? Are the snack carts pretty generic? Seems that way at a glance...and we can't do sit down restaurants or we'll run out of time.

UK: Fish and chips stand. We like to share this, you get two pieces of fish with fries.

France: Grab a pastry

Morocco: Falafel sandwiches I've heard are really good (will try them this visit!)

Japan: Go into the store and buy something packaged to take home like candy or snacks

America: Funnel cake or turkey leg

Italy: We like to buy the chocolate Baci candy

Germany: Grab a pretzel, Stop in the candy store for candy or cookies to take home

Norway: Take an almond Kringla or schoolbread to go (eat it later in the room)

China: Share the Shrimp fried rice w/egg roll platter

Mexico: we love the sampler platter to pick on

Canada: never found any munchies there, sorry

We are having dinner in Canada, Italy, and Germany...so we don't have to stop there.

But, I'll give it a shot for all of them....so, working couterclockwise -

Canada - piece of maple moose candy from the shop
UK - split the fish and chips
France - split a pastry (or cheese plate)
Morocco - split a couple side dishes - maybe the coucous salad or lentil salad
Japan - how about some miso soup
American Adventure - funnel cake or a turkey leg
Italy - fine italian chocolates
Germany - split a bratwurst
China - split an egg roll or some potstickers
Norway - pastry (sweet bread)
Mexico - end the day with some Nachos unless you still have a sweet tooth for some churros

I have heard of a lot of people doing "dessert around the world" and by dessert just meaning the special food in each country. Such as a pretzel, or an amazing eclair from france!!!!! My parents even did this a couple mousefests ago they held it as an event. My dbf and I might even skip a dinner in one of the countries and eat our way around the world...could be interesting!!

It's great if you can save all the sweets and pastries until the end -- when we Snacked Around the World last year, we went back and forth between sweets and savories, and it got a little weird around Morocco.

Lots of yummy ideas! Just wanted to add that the countries generally have shops that sell packaged candies, cookies and the like. We had some nice maple candy in Canada. Anyway, if she is too full for a big snack or something from a CS, you could get a small bag of candy etc... to take with you.

We also love eating at the World. We usually have dinner during the week there 3 times, such as our upcoming Dec. trip we will be dining at night at Tutto,Chefs de France and Askerhaus. In order to hit the other countries, we will do what we call progressive lunches a couple of days. What we do is go to one country and share an appetizer, walk to another and share a lunch entree, walk to another and share another lunch entree,walk around a bit more then share a dessert. This hits 4 countries for lunch. By the end of the week we have dined at all the countries and then some.

If we wanted to eat our way around the world, we'd spend the better part of the afternoon/ eve in WS. Inc lunch, dinner, and snacks. Sharing would be a must, and if we didnt get started until after lunch, I doubt we'd make it more than half way around

so i saw some people posted that you could take some of the treats and save them for later...thats a great idea cause i wanted to try the treats from around the world but knew i would be too full if i ate them all while i was there.
question?....will they deliver the treats to your room like they do the gifts you buy (example-candy from the shops/pastries)? just wondering cause that would be great! i understand that some things would be impossible to deliver but just thought i would ask about things like candy?

No, they don't deliver the food They should be able to deliver the bagged candy.

I highly suggest stopping in Mousegears when entering Epcot and picking up some "Goofy Candy Bags". They're longer than a traditional ziploc and still have the zip lock closure.

The Almond (or plain) Kringla Pretzel from Norway fits perfectly in the bag and it keeps it fresh. The bakery will just put it into a plain bag, and believe me - it gets stale quick. They do have a to go container for the schoolbread. You can use the Goofy Bag for pretzels in Germany too. We like to do this on our last day for munchies on the way to the airport

As for the counter service places, they usually all have to go boxes. We pick up the nachos combination plate from Mexico and bring it back to our room for a pre-dinner snack. The box fits easily in our stroller basket.

We've never taken pastries from France back to the room. They usually have a lot of cream in them so I'd go directly to the room and put them in the fridge.

We have also taken cakes to go from MK Bakery. (When I went to WDW with my mom she got a real kick out of bringing back a pastry or cake from any bakery we passed that day and having our "coffee and cake" each night on the balcony.)

It's so much fine dining around the world! Although it's really difficult to do it in one day. We pop in and out of Epcot during our whole trip, just for the food!

If you hit each country, you'll notice each one has a stand or kiosk that takes care of quick service options. Most offer some type of "authentic" food for that particular country. Order something and share. That way you won't fill up before you get all the way around. You can also get beverages in different countries and many options you can't share with your child.

With that in mind, I won't give you any suggestions because I don't know what your tastes are, but each location has pretty good choices and also some americanized choices if you don't like or don't know what is offered.

Skip breakfast, pace yourself and share share share!

We love anything from the Norway bakery and the France bakery, chocolates from Italy, brat and kraut from Germany, Kakigori (sno cone) from Japan, we love most everything!

I'd suggest either getting a churro or the kid's meal at Mexico. It's just the right amount.

1) Rent an ECV.
2) Rent the optional wheelbarrow.
3) Go to each country and sample the food.
4) Lay in the wheelbarrow as you get further through the countries.
5) Have your family pour you onto a bus for the ride to the resort.

NOTE: If you sample at each country and can still walk, I think there is a prize.

Everytime we try this we end up stuffed after 2 or 3 countries I just told DH we need kids so we can share the snacks better lol

Wonderful advice, thank you everyone. I hadn't thought about bringing stuff back to the hotel.

Since we'll be there in the morning, we can buy lunch and take it back to the hotel. We can get some breads to have for breakfast the next morning, a pastry for later that night, some candy to bring on the plane......great ideas!

We have tried buying a little something (packaged) in each country to bring home with us to enjoy when we are missing Disney. (Seems we had trouble with one country, can't rmember which.) We haven't done that for a while, i think we will do taht again this trip. My DD14 loves to eat around the world. We have a taste or two each so we can try everything. Usually we get a snack credit item or at the most a kids meal. Ths is her faavorite part of Disney...
