Hey everyone..

I am will be in Disney next week 6/25-7/5 and I have 1yo and a 4yo. My question is regarding the 1yo. She will be in the stroller alot and the sun cover really doesnt block alot of the sun...Whats the best way to add some more shade in the stroller, so she doesnt get the brunt effect of the sun

Thanks

Tony

We used the umbrella that is made to clip onto the stroller in addition to the sunshade of the stroller. It could be adjusted according to the direction of the sun but it was still cool for the kids. We also used the fan for the stroller and in the hot summer months it was great - cooling breeze and white noise for nap time!

Check out rightstart.com for both.

we also used a clip on parasol, and if you have a hood then you can put a towel over the stroller if she is asleep

On our trip I plan to do this:
Take a umbrella that clips on ( as posted above ) AND carry a few receiving Blankets and clothes pins .. Clip them on to the shade that is already on the stroller and let them hang down .. Very shady but still able to feel a breaze. Receiving blankets can be used for that during the day and if it gets cool late at night you will have them for a small cover up for the small ones.. The clothes pins can also be used to hang up clothes, swimsuits etc when at the resort..

If you have a babies r us nearby check for an extender for the actual hood/sunshade on your stroller. I wish I knew the brandname but I threw the packaging away and put it in our stroller basket. It has four velcro straps that attach to your stroller handles and frame. It just rests on top of your hood if not in use but you can pull it down almost to the seat!!!! It also mentioned having protection from UVA/UVB rays. When stored it folds up to about a 8" circle. It was $14.99 and well worth the $$$.

We carry 1/2 of a twin sized white sheet and cover the stroller with that while the baby is sleeping. We also have a couple of stroller fans that clip on and work wonders at nap time.

I believe what ajksmom is referring to is the Rayshade by Kiddopotamus. Here's the link to their site:click here

HTH!

Thats exactly what i was looking for(rayshade0..I have been trying to get all the last minute packing stuff down..

Does this work with a umbrella stroller??

I will tell you, we just got back from a 9 day trip in the world with my 4 and 13 month old girls. We had so much crap with us that "we had to have with us".
The shade on the stroller worked fine. We put spf 50 water babies sunblock on her in the morning, shw wouldn't wear a hat, and was in the stroller or me carrying her all day. Never once did it look like she was getting too much sun. we didn't even reaply the sunblock later in the day. You move around so much and the sun shifts and you are in the shade when in most lines and shows that it really wasn't a problem.
My suggestion is not worry about all the other stuff and limit what you take in the parks it will make it much easier.

how was your 13month down there, i also have a 13mo girl...Did u take her the hoop de doo? We have it scheduled with her..shes usually a good baby..How was she in the parks

all4fun,
THANK YOU for the help with the name! I worry sometimes being only 36 and forgetting all that I do!:hyper:

tpaparazzo,
Yes it works great with an umbrella stroller. The straps are velcro so they are adjustable, I can't imagine having any problem making it fit any stroller. The umbrella stroller I have for my DS3(maclaren triumph) has a rather long (head to butt) seat and when this is pulled fully down it is about 2 inches from the bottom of the seat.

thanks for the help..everyone..Looks like your going to be down the same week i am..where you staying?

:)
tpaparazzo,
Hey I just noticed you are from Hartford,CT. Kinda neat to have neighbors meeting here.
My DS17 is graduating Tues. June 22, we leave Wed. night,Thursday he and his girlfriend are going to DC,Friday we check into the Royal Pacific Resort at UO/IOA until Tuesday when we check into POR.We will only be there until Thursday though. Then we are on to West Palm Beach to see family.
This trip was initially supposed to be for my son's graduation but we also have a 3 yr. old who hasn't been to DW since he was 9 months old. Whenever we would talk about Florida he would talk about seeing ::MickeyMo !!!! So when plans had to be changed for when we could see family I knew just where to take up some time!!! We will do only MK on the 30th. And although I am grateful to be going it's sooooo hard to be there for such a short time.
What are your plans? Where are you staying? Are you really excited with too much to do?

We are staying off site this time..I couldnt afford okw and we have 8 people...So we are staying at the Sheraton Visatana Resort...I booked the hoop de doo revue..been to orlando 4 times and never seen it....

She did great! We were amazed at how she just wne twith the flow. She did get hot occassionally and we just kept her hydrated and used one of those cool bandanas around her neck. That seemed to really help but one word of caution; wet it down with drinking water. The first day in EPCOT I got it wet in one of those squirty fountain things and my DD kept sucking on the bandana. NOt good!
We did not go to the Hoop De Doo this time (we did go 2 years ago with my 2 year old). But we did do the Mickey's Backyard BBQ. She loved that. She really enjoyed seeing the characters dancing around. The BYBBQ is much more interactive for the kids. You dont just sit in your chair and watch the show.

Have fun!

Just bought this for my older Graco Citilite (umbrella sized) stroller, because the canopy on the stroller sags a lot on top and is bent out of shape a little, so I don't feel it gives DD1 adequate sun converage. I just can't get the hang of getting the Rayshade attached properly, or folded back into the silly plastic packaging. Any advice or tips to attach this thing the right way, and to put it away without bending/breaking it? Thanks! PS-I also bought the detachable cup holder that has the plastic bag hooks on it-anybody ever used it & was it worth it?

I bought a chicco caddy stroller at Toys R Us on Clearance this weekend for $30. I also bought the rayshade. The package says to coil the rayshade, not twist to get it back into the package. It worked for me. It also says that you can store the ray shade in one of the pockets that are on the side of it. I only tried once, but wasn't able to figure it out (I'll keep trying as it would be more convenient than carring the plastic envelope. As far as getting it attached properly I don't think that there is a "proper" way. It is so adjustable that it basically sits on the strollers visor, but can be pulled to the front edge of the visor to give more shade. When it is pulled all the way down on the caddy stroller it goes below the seat level. We use a heavier double stroller at Disney and I haven't tried it on that yet, but I'm sure that it will work fine.
