Sorry if this question has been posted before....I am new to this site.

My husband and I are headed to Disney World in May. We aren't sure how we should carry our stuff around while in the parks. Is a fanny pack the best way? If we take in some sort of bag (back pack or fanny pack), what do we do with the bag on the rides? Can you wear a fanny pack on the rides?

Thanks! I would appreciate any and all advice for our trip!!

I've used fanny packs in past trips. You can wear them on the rides...I've worn one on TT, TofT, RnRC, Space Mt., etc.

I carry a backpack every day of the year except at Disney. It is hot in Florida. Your back will get hot and sweaty with a backpack on!

My latest fav for park touring is an Eagle Creek bag that is a shoulder bag (with a long strap so you can hang it across your body) that also has a fanny pack strap built in. If I'm going on an e-ride, I just unzip the belt part and fasten it on, tucking the shoulder strap away. It is more comfortable for me to not wear the belt part walking around in the heat.

I think fanny packs are the best and most comfortable. I have a Coleman that has a place for a water bottle and holds a lot---but don't fall into the trap of carrying too much stuff. Less is more!! I carry water, camera, sunscreen, money, passes, and maybe some crackers for the kids.

I found a smaller sized backpack at WalMart -- it will hold a few bottles of water and when they are gone, it will hold anything else we pick up along the way. The focus here is *smaller* because in the past I've always gotten stuck as being the one to carry everything. This time I went smaller -- so everyone can share in the *fun*.

Thank you so much for the advice! We are definetly going to try to take as little as possible & all the input on how to carry things around is appreciated.

We can hardly wait.....3 weeks, 2 days, and counting down.

We each wear a fanny pack. Then we carry one backpack between us and take turns carrying/wearing it. Ours is a lightweight canvas so it doesn't weigh much at all. Fanny packs are great tho for having quick access to chapstick, money, tissues, etc.

I too like a fanny pack or belly bag. It's fastened to me and I won't put it down and forget it. I had a large one but it made my back ache. Now I have a smaller one and it doesn't get in the way of rides either.

I would NEVER wear a fanny pack anywhere but WDW. While there I have it on all the time though. A backpack was a little too much for me. I found a GREAT fanny pack. It converts to a sport purse (the fanny pack straps zipper into little pockets). It also has two mesh water bottle holders which zipper out on the sides (so you don't always have to have the water bottle look). It's a great size that holds what I need which is generally:

Glasses case
first aid kit
ponchos
battle plan
maps

and some other stuff that escapes me at the moment...

Could you tell me where you found your fanny pack? I have a regular fanny pack that I always wear at WDW (but only at WDW, of course! ;) ) but yours sounds great!

:bounce: Eveyone has a fanny pack (money, walkietalkie, id with hotel #, room for 12 DD,10DS, small snacks, ice water), DH has backpack cooler (From Walmarts with snacks and cold sandwich stuff, can't eat a full meal at the parks as we feel like sleeping after eating rather than strolling and seeing), unlucky for me, but lucky for family, I have to go in a wheelchair for long distances (back injury), so backpack usually gets hung on wheelchair. I do find that fanny packs are the best ways to go- hands-free

What happens though when you ride rides with a packback ?

I have no issues wearing a fanny pack, but, I do have camera stuff that I want to bring. I have a long barrel lense on my digital camera and have a small backpack for the flash, cards, batteries, filters, lenses etc. ..... I'm kind of curious though if it's worth taking it to the park or... how do people work that?

We do the fanny packs for essentials, money digital camera, room keys, and then have the backpack/cooler for water, buying sprees etc.. We used to bring the camcorder etc but have found that after the beginning of the day we just did not bother with it. When we did we just brought the backpack on the ride with us. Uncomfortable usually. If we know we would not use it for a while then lockers worked great. Comes down to how dedicated you are to actually usuing all the extra cameras and stuff. Good luck!

What works great for me are those Shoulder bags that don't hurt your back like a back pack can. You can get them at LL Bean. It's called the Healthy Back Bag. I stuff everything in there and it doesn't hurt my back at all. It also allows for a little extra room for stuffing those purchases from the parks in there along with a water bottle. It's a little pricey (starting at $59.00) but well worth it.

We always take our backpack on the rides with us--just put it on the floor and put a leg through one of the straps to keep it from falling out. I've been on everything with our pack, including the Rock'n'Roller coaster, and have never had a problem with it moving around or losing anything.

A lot of rides, like Test Track, also have a little mesh net holder for you to put your carryons in to keep them secure.
