Best way to book for a first timer?

Planning our first trip and the $750 gift card offer got me to try booking through the main site.

Is that the best way or are there better ways to book a trip even if it means skipping the gift card?

I've booked trips through a travel agent and online at the WDW site.. either way you can get the $750 gift card.. don't give that up! its just up to you have you want to handle your vacation. I like having the TA do most of the work for me.. but I still do all my dining reservations myself because I am anal!

but which ever way you book.. you should still get the $750 gift card. look around and see what/where you want to stay and when and if it makes you feel more comfortable, call and talk to a CM to book it.

I second the idea of booking with a Disney Specialist travel agent. They not only will make recommendations and help you get the best deal, they will also help you plan the trip. There is sooo much to know about going to Disney, and the first trip can be VERY overwhelming! Just so you know, Disney pays a TA's commissions, so it wouldn't cost you any extra money to use one, and it might even save you a little bit!

The gift card deal is the best deal going on right now, so you won't get a better deal going through a TA. We have been to WDW a number of times and I have never needed a TA to help me book or plan. Plus, the TA owns your reservation and you can't make any changes to your reservations without going through them. I would find that to be a hassle.

As mentioned, booking through a TA requires any changes made to your reservation to be done by the TA.
That bothers some; and some are glad to hand over the details. It's just a matter of finding the right TA for you, and feeling comfortable with their information and schedule.
