Is there an alternative to driving I-4 from Sanford to WDW? If so, does it save time or aggravation with traffic, etc?

Thanks,
Julie

I recommend the 417 - I drove it several times last year durng the summer season, and it definitely saved aggravation. Probably saves time too, although it is actually longer distance wise. Plus it's a rather scenic route so it will definitely be more relaxing on the brain!

We do these several times a year, but given our flight times into SFB, we determined that I-4 is our best route. However, we have done the SR417 South (also called the Central Florida GreeneWay) several times and in our opinion the routes are about the same (again, this could just be because of our travel times. I-4 as you probably know can be very heavily traveled during rush and peak periods. Here is a link to a website with directions that seems to usually prefer the SR417 route. Hope this helps!

Thanks so much. We looked at mapquest, and weren't sure if 417 would be better or not. We might give it a try, because it seems like no matter what time, or what day, we take I-4 it's always slow, backed up, and stressful driving.

The 417 is the only way to go Disney from Sanford. It is a 55 minute ride and the tolls are $2.00, $.50, $.50, $1.00 and $1.00. As you pass Colonial Drive stay to the right and go up over the incline to continue on 417. If you go left you will end up downtown and I-4.
