Ok - my fiancee has been looking at the map - we are driving to Disney -
for the first time. Leaving from Southern Illinois taking 57 to 24 (I am not sure where we go after - he does) but once we get close what is the best route to take....what are we on once we get to FL? and then what is the best route into WDW we are staying at the BC
Thanks

BTW I think we will be stopping in Warner Robbins or Perry for the night- not that it matters but thanks for the tips!!

Take 75 to Florida's Turnpike - from Fl Turnpike take 429to the disney exit.
Note both of these are toll roads so make sure you have money available.

Allison, the one way toll is $2.50 on the Turnpike and $1.00 on the Western Beltway (TOLL 429).

The Turnpike junction with the 429 is clearly marked but there is no mention of Disney World. The sign reads "APOPKA/TAMPA" and you would head in the Tampa direction. Once on southbound 429 the exit for the Mouse reads "DISNEY WORLD/HARTZOG ROAD".

We drove last year from Chicago suburbs. Just to give you an idea, from the suburbs (1 hr to get to I-80) then (5-6 hrs to get out of IL) and a total of 20 hrs straight thru for the drive. It wasn't bad at all. We took 57 -> 24 -> 75 -> Floridas turnpike. Stupid me assumed there would be tons of signs to Disney, but there weren't. We ended up heading to I-4 and wasted a little time, but this year, I'm writing down the 429 info I got from the boards! Also, TN is very mountainy, Chattanooga was crowded (on the way home) during rush hourish time, 3:30pm. Atlanta, we went thru on the way down about 2pm, went right thru it with no traffic at all. We stopped in Tifton, GA for dinner. Let me know if you have any questions!

I'm in southern Illinois too. We've never driven to WDW, so can't answer your question, but I wanted to say Howdy, Neighbor! LOL Please write a trip report when you return about the drive. Dh and I always say we're going to do it, but we never do. I'd love to hear how your drive was after you return. Have a good trip! When are you going? Our next trip is December 20th. :)
