DH DS(17) and I get back from a cruise the Friday after Easter. My plan was to stay one night DVC that night and then fly home Saturday. DS, however, has asked if we can go to Universal so he can go to Harry Potter World (specifically Ollivander's).
My new plan is to stay two nights DVC and spend Saturday at Universal (one or both; not sure yet). DH and I have been to Universal before HP and were not impressed, but I'm a HP fan so I"m fine with that. Then we would fly home Sunday.
Since this is the week after Easter (the cruise sails day after Easter) flight costs are awful. My solace is that our room is paid for. I don't want to rent a car because, again, it will cost a ton. Without a car rental what is the best way to get to Universal from a DVC resort (not sure which one yet)? Is there a cab or shuttle company that is more reasonable? I know to go early.

nevermind...just saw the transport thread! Looks like Mears is the best option for us.

We've used Tony Hinds many times and ALWAYS had great service and a reasonable price.

My kids and I brought my parents and sister with us this June for the first time and used Tony again. My parents were 'wowed' by the level of service and just how pleasant and accommodating he was. And I have this forum to thank.....since that is where I heard of him! They felt the same about the service at Royal Pacific Resort too!! They loved the entire trip......except my dad almost passing out after riding Forbidden Journey. In our defense though, we did warn him. :)

If you're thinking of the Mears shuttle, understand that you can't take luggage with you on the bus.

Who is Tony Hinds? We are looking at transport options from DW to Universal as well.

private car service.
do you want his number or email?

let me know

We had great luck with using Uber to get us from Wilderness Lodge to Universal on our trip last month. And we needed to be at Royal Pacific by 630am. There were plenty of uber drivers available at that time of the morning (we left WL at 6am). Both of our drivers, to and from, were extremely professional. We used Uber XL to get a minivan so the four of us wouldn't be crammed into a car.

It cost about half what a cab would, and as first time users, our first trip was $20 off. It was around $35 each way, and a cab is around $60 each way AND you're expected to tip your cab driver. You don't *have* to tip uber drivers, they usually request a 5 star rating instead. Although we did give our return driver a cash tip because he managed to skip rush hour traffic and used back roads to get us back on Disney property very quickly!

Good luck making your decision, and have a wonderful vacation!!

Have you used it here specificslly? Am thinking this will be out plan.
Yes, 3 of us went from Coronado springs to royal pacific in March of this year. I tried to find the original receipt but I've deleted it since then. I recall the cost was 35-ish, and I gave the guy a $5 tip. He came in a Toyota Camry, so plenty of trunk space for bags.
