Best way from SSR to Miami Pier

We are taking out first trip home to SSR this January for a 3 night stay, then boarding a cruise at the Miami pier. Any suggestions for transporation from SSR to the pier? If we rent a car, how tricky is it to get to Miami from the resort? (I am not a great navigator...) Also, can MS arrange a car from SSR not the airport, as we won't need it during our stay, just to get to Miami?

Or can anyone suggest a towncar service that will take us that far? I got one quote for $450.00 one way......

There are auto rental locations at WDW at the Dolphin and the MK Auto center. They will pick you up at your resort to get the car. MS can make arrangements.

I'll move this to the Transportation Board for more help with directions to Miami.

It’s a 228 mile ride from SSR to the Miami cruise line piers. My route planner suggests four and a half hours minimum, most of it on the Florida Turnpike (toll). I don’t know where car rental facilities are in the pier area, or what traffic to expect.

I don't usually look at this board, but PM me with answers to the following questions and I can help you. I live in Miami.

1. I assume you are cruising from the Port of Miami on Carnival, Royal Caribbean, NCL, Celebrity, etc...right?

2. You are obviously going to SSR first. How are you getting there? Flying into MCO (Orlando airport)?

3. How are you returning home? If flying, tell me a) from where, b) how long after you disembark from your cruise is your return flight?
