Best way from Poly to MK after fireworks?

Hi there!

We have only one day (!) at MK after a Disney Cruise in January. We have plans to head to Poly from MK for a dinner reservation after which we are hoping to watch the fireworks/electrical pageant parade from the beach.

Afterwards, we will be heading back to AoA. What do you think is the best mode of transportation back to MK and then to AoA at the end of the night- monorail or buses? We've got a toddler and baby in our group, so I'm just trying to figure out the least busy way to go.

As an aside - any recommendations on when to leave MK to make the 6:45 reservation?

I will post this in the family section as well in case this is not the best place.

Thanks so much!

Monorail or the boat that goes from MK-GF-Poly-MK.

If you don't mind dealing with the post-fireworks crowd out at the MK bus stops, then I would take the monorail from Poly to MK, then the AoA bus from there. The boat might be very cold that time of year.

If you don't want to deal with the MK crowd, another option might be to take a Downtown Disney bus from Poly, and then the AoA bus from Downtown Disney. This might take longer but be more relaxed and less crowded.

Given your group, I would take the monorail when moving between MK and the Poly. There is a boat launch that runs (MK->GF->Poly->MK), but you may have to fold up any strollers you may have. The monorail is probably easier because you can roll the stroller directly into the cabin and you don't have to fold it down and/or remove the child. For a 6:45 pm ADR, I would allow about 45-60 minutes to get to the Poly (just in case you just miss the monorail/boat and have to wait for the next one). I'd rather be early than late!

For getting back to AoA, if you want to use Disney transportation you can either return to MK (monorail or boat) and then bus to AoA or bus from the Poly to DTD or any still open theme park and then take another bus to AoA. Alternatively, you could look into taking a taxi directly from Poly to AoA.

Given the ages of your children and the fact that they will probably be pretty tired by the time you would be heading back to AoA, I would seriously consider taking a taxi from the Poly. That eliminates having to fight the crowds and wait for buses. There are no buses from the Poly to MK, so you would have to take either the monorail or the boat and then wait for a bus along with the crowds leaving the park. The CMs at the valet stand, or one of the bell staff can get you a taxi pretty quickly.

That's a late night with a baby & toddler who will be really tired. I agree a cab will be the easiest way. You can request a taxi van at Bell Service desk, it's the same price for a van or car, and depending on how many you are , may be more comfortable.

If you want to stick with WDW transportation, count on another hour at least to get back to AoA depending on bus waits/lines.

From Poly either hop on monorail to MK to get AoA bus, or walk to TTC to get Epcot monorail and pick up bus there depending on Epcot hours. I'd only use DTD to transfer if all parks are closed, as a last option.

You can also take the DHS bus from Poly (again depending on park hours) and transfer at DHS to AoA bus.

thanks again to everyone - I really appreciate the replies!

okay, so are taxis really available with car seats? do you pre-arrange or just call from the hotel?

thanks again!
