Best way from FW to AK?

We are staying at the CR in September, but will be going to breakfast at FW one of the mornings that we are there. When we are finished at FW, we will be heading to AK for the day. Would we be better off taking a bus from FW or heading back to CR and taking a bus from there instead?

Any advice would be appreciated. Also, if anyone has any general strategies on transportation to/from CR that would be appreciated as well.

You'll probably be taking the boat from CR to FtW (service stars at 6:45 a.m.). That drops you off a short walk from Pioneer Hall and Trail's End.

Buses from FtW to the parks leave from the Outpost, which is the parking lot at the opposite end of the campground. You need to take an internal shuttle bus from Pioneer Hall to the Outpost, and catch the bus to the park there.

So it's your choice: the 2 buses would be faster, but if you're not in a rush you may prefer the boat ride back to CR (or WL) over 2 buses.

WARNING: Do not take the boat to the MK! There's no direct service from the MK to the other parks; a connection at TTC is required.

Grab the Orange bus if it is there, it's more direct to the outpost than Yellow or Purple. Then transfer to the AK bus at the outpost. This is going to be faster than a boat to CR and then the AK bus (as the AK bus will also stop at the Poly)

Cranbiz, unless things have changed "again", the Yellow bus is now the most direct route from one end of the campground to the other.

The Outpost Orange bus now goes through the center of the campground past Meadows, then routes through the cabins before going on to Outpost. (Settlement Orange does the same thing in reverse). The cabin folks were complaining about having to take two buses to get to the Meadows area.

Thank you all for the great advice. It sounds like as long as I can figure out how to get to the "off site" busses at FW, that this will be our best bet; rather than returning to the CR in order to get to AK. Thanks again!
