Best way for boy to carry iPhone around?

Man, for anyone reading this thread who likes and uses fanny backs, please don't get discouraged! You're actually on trend! Fanny packs have gotten a lot more popular in the past couple of years, particularly among teens and 20-something-year-olds, and especially at music festivals. There are now a lot more fanny pack options, ranging from iridescent sequins to designer black leather - they don't all look like the nylon ones you know and don't love from the '80s.

But my guess is that unless your teenage son is a devoted fashionista, he will probably laugh at the suggestion of a fanny pack.

A lot of clothes and styles from the 90's are making a comeback. Fanny packs are way more popular than they were 5 years ago. Starter jackets that are team based or bright in color. Snapback hats have been hugely popular, and more vintage clothing

Wouldn't catch me wearing a fanny pack at all as I'm a guy..but seems like all the girls now are coming back around to fanny packs

Also to note..basketball shorts are just fine for phones as that's what I wear to the parks 99% of the time. And cargo shorts are never out of style.

My son lost his phone from his front shorts pocket on Rock n Rollercoaster in 2012. Luckily it was just a "dumb" phone. So I'd say, the pockets are fine, but hold onto your phone on that ride! He's never had any trouble losing his phone on other trips sinceand it's always in his pocket, and now he has a big galaxy phone.

I often keep mine in my pocket at WDW. It doubles as my camera so I need quick access.

We call them "waist packs" now and my son, whom is 14, LOVES his.

My 15 yo DS wears a running belt at Six Flags. He never worries about his phone on those crazy rides. It fits his phone, money and park pass and he wears it under his clothes so you can't even tell

hi!
We are going to WDW in February! There will be several young teenage boys in our group and they want to carry their iPhones. But they do not have pockets with buttons/zippers. I was thinking of buying them fanny packs for Christmas but is their any other option that they might like better?

Cargo pants. THe pockets on the legs near the knees usually have a velcro or snap flap. BUt I'd bet that they can figure out what to do with their phones themselves, they are probably used to carrying them on a daily basis.

My 13 yo son uses a flip belt when he wears pants without secure enough pockets. He wears glasses, too, and he can stick both his glasses and his phone in it. It goes around his waist and is under his tshirt, so unnoticeable and not ruining his SUPER COOL TEENAGER aesthetic. :rolleyes1

Editing to add: I wouldn't buy these for teenage boys as gifts without them asking for them. Honestly, I wouldn't buy anything that they'd wear on their bodies without very specific approval that they will indeed want them and use them. Because you'll just waste your money.

I actually wear something similar to the zipper flip belt when I wear sundresses since they have no pockets. I wear it under my dress when I go through security with nothing in it but some cash, ID, cc and carry my phone in my hand. When I get in the park I go to the bathroom and pull it over my dress and my phone goes in it. It just looks like a wide belt.

Totally agree with this. However, I have to disagree with anyone who just sticks their phone into their back pocket at Disney World (or anywhere else for that matter). Phones aren't cheap and if it gets lost or broken because of the pocket and/or breaking, that's an extra added expense I wouldn't want and having anyone without a phone for the remainder of the vacation? Not an easy thought either.

They deal with their phone every day now. A friendly, your expected to protect your phone from water and damage no matter what is more than enough. Add in a little, is there any bag or item you need or want to achieve this goal? when they say no, tell them you'll be asking again later it the week and think about it.

Friendly advice you can offer them is use the disney provided places to store your stuff, including the free lockers if your going on kali but most are a pouch on the ride itself and they work amazingly well, including RnR.

what it comes down to is include them in the conversation and tell them your concerns. They are teenagers, not toddlers.

A lot of sundresses are easy to add pockets to if they have seams on the sides. When I have to add them, I like to put some funky fabric in them and I can make them as deep or whatever as I like. Sundresses are my WDW, and life for that matter, go to. Just a thought, but I'm thinking about your idea for some of my dresses for which modifying isn't possible.

The boys around here would disagree. I've been told cargo shorts are "dad shorts" (aka worst possible thing one could put on a teenage boy body).
Agreed. I have a 20 year old son who hasn't been seen in cargo shorts in the last 5 years.

My DD14 and DS11 both will wear one at the parks on our next trip. We had season passes to Cedar Point and they kept all their gear in them and both ordered their own "fanny packs" from Amazon. They are very convenient and the kids don't mind them at all.

I'm a college freshman and fanny packs are actually pretty popular on my campus. We all know they're ridiculous, but everyone has one.

Wow. To quote The Simpsons, "I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was." I'm not sure I'm in touch with current trends. But, if they're like the average teenager, the phone will probably spend more time in their hands being used than stored away. The average teen can't seem to take their eyes off their phone!

Are these sold in Disney or do you get them prior? I can't seem to picture it but sounds like it might be a good option for adults too!

Disney does sell the waterproof phone case lanyards. I saw someone asking for one at Typhoon Lagoon, but the cashier CM pulled it from behind the counter, since it wasn't out on display. The cases are really cool but quite expensive at the parks. I would probably shop around beforehand.

If someone has the confidence to rock a fanny pack, or weird length shorts, or Members Only jackets, or anything else, I say go for it. One of my friends was the most popular and unconventional kid in school, and he could (and did) get away with breaking just about any rule, and owning it.

My brother is 21 and loves his American flag fanny pack I bought him. He's a pretty pick guy when it comes to fashion so I was surprised when he wore it so much. Who knew fanny packs were considered cool again?

If I owned a sewing machine and knew how to sew that would work.

My teenager lost his phone on test track. It fell out of his pocket. We did get it back by looking at the car number on our photo and checking the car when it returned. He did noticed right after we got off the ride. Since then he carries a sling bag when he goes to any park. He then can carry his wallet, water, poncho, etc. He does have a waist bag which he used when he was younger, but hasn't used that in several years. He does sometimes use my running belt if he is only going to carry his phone, he wears it under his shirt so it is slim and not really visible.

I wouldn't worry about their phones. They'll figure it out, and whatever you suggest to them is going to be the wrong answer to their ears. I would tell any of my own kids in that group, "You lose it, you replace it, so take care of it" but that's my general rule anyway. As I tell DD whenever she wants to bring anything anywhere with us, "You bring it, you're responsible. I'm not carrying it."
