Hi,
My BIL is a vegetarian and we will be visiting Epcot, AK, and MK.
We have all of our table service meals planned, but I would like to go ahead and plan our quick-service meals as well. What are the best vegetarian restaurants in those parks?

THANKS!

On your MK day, I would hop on the boat to Wilderness Lodge and eat at the Roaring Fork. I had the grilled veggie sandwich there and it was super yummy. The sandwiches are fresh made when you order them, so you can choose your toppings. You can sit indoors or outside, where they have several umbrella covered tables. We found it quite pleasant, even with a triple digit heat index. The resort is beautiful, and if you sit outside, you can enjoy the beautiful landscaping.

At DAK: I would say Tusker house if it's open.. Also picnic in the park is good.
MK: the bakery on main street has lots of options, Pinnochio's Village Haus has the yummy Figaro Fries (minus the bacon) is good too (but ya need a fork to eat them!).

I get tired of the usual veggie burger.. however, American Pavilion food area has the option of the burger if you ask (I don't know if it's on the menu). Also, the nachos in Mexico are great (minus the meat).

I like the salad at Flame Tree BBQ and a basket of the fries to dip in BBQ sauce :thumbsup2

The salad is mixed greens, carrots, tomatos tossed in a really good viniagrette with a crispy pita things-- very fresh and yummy.

Cosmic Rays has a veggie burger and a veggie wrap but personally I like Columbia Harbor house better. They have a great Veggie Sandwhich and they have fish (if he is not vegan).
In AK, I like Pizzasafari (even though all I get is cheese pizza and a side salad) it is just one of my favorite Disney CS places.
In Epcot, Tangierene Cafe has a few really good Vegetarian options and Sunshine Seasons has alot to offer aswell.

I have noticed MOST CS places have at least one vegetarian option but you could head over to Allearsnet.com and check out the menus listed just to make sure.

Hands down the best vegetarian sandwich IMO in Disney is the hummus/slaw sandwich at Columbia Harbour House. I crave it while I am not there...seriously. They have sort of odd hours though I think, maybe not open for dinner.

I researched CS quite a bit for our last visit...July '08....because I had:

ME (wanted GOOD food - NOT the standard burger/pizza).....DH (Good Food)....DS (somewhat picky)....DD1 (VERY VERY picky)...and DD2 (NEWLY Vegetarian).....

Here is what we did: (we did not do AK that visit)

MK: Cosmic Rays - VERY satisfied with this....Me & DH got the Chicken/Ribs with mashed potatoes and green beans plus dessert...imho the BEST Value on CS ever ! DS and DD got burgers...loved them...had lots of 'fixins' plus fries, carrot or chocolate cake...DD got the veggie burger...but as I recall there were many other veggie choices...

DHS: Sunset Market - This is a market - style area near ToT and RnR....it has many CS counters...much like The Land...but it is outdoors....I got a Yummy Italian Sub from Catalina Eddies....they also had pizza, salad, turkey legs, chicken nuggets, hamburgers, veggie burgers, etc.

Epcot: Sunshine Seasons - This is much like a Mall Courtyard....Many selections...

Based on reviews ....at AK...I think I will try Flame Tree BBQ for our next visit...

Have a magical visit!

Mary

Hi. My sister is a vegan and her favorites are -

MK - Columbia Harbour House - veggie sandwich

Epcot - Sunshine Seasons

DHS - Backlot Express - veggie sandwich

AK - sorry, I don't remember but it isn't Flametree for sure.

I think the MK and DHS are vegetarian and she has it made to order leaving something off that makes it vegan.

There are good veggie burgers in the parks, but she likes the sandwiches if she can get them.

In general, almost every CS place will have exactly 1 vegetarian option, usually a veggie wrap, roasted veggie sandwich, or veggie burger.

AK's new Picnic in the Park now has a vegetarian sandwich option (portobello and grilled veggie wrap) and all the sides but 1 are vegetarian (I *think*--I should say "all but 1 sound like the menu descriptions like they're vegetarian but you never really know what's in something until you ask").

MK--CHH, Cosmic Ray's for the veggie burger + toppings bar, El Pirata y el Perico (thanks to the DISer who just tipped me off to the vegetarian black bean tacos there), Main Street Bakery; if the Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station is open they're usually good for tofu and noodle dishes

Epcot--Sunshine Seasons, Tangierène Café in Morocco, Liberty Inn has a veggie burger or veggie wrap, Electric Umbrella has a veggie wrap

AK--besides the Picnic in the Park, you can get a pizza at Pizzafari or a veggie burger at Restaurantosaurus

Studios--Starring Rolls has a veggie pita (but IIRC they close after lunch), Backlot Express has a roasted veggie sandwich, Rosie's has a veggie burger.

Sunshine Seasons in EPCOT, Cosmic Rays in MK but even better is the Lighthouse Sandwich at Columbia Harbor House in MK. AK really doesn't have a lot to choose from - I think it's just pizza from Pizzafari and a veggie eggroll from a cart by Asia. DHS has a veggie burger at Rosie's which I think was across from the Beauty and the Beast show. Poly had some good Lo Mein you can get without meat or also the "grown up" grilled cheese. Hope this helps!

MK - Columbia Harbor House without a doubt. That hummus sandwich is just delicious. The big surprise for me was the bread. The bread quality is AMAZING. Good hearty delicious sandwich bread. Nice chewy crust, soft middle. Just perfect. My husband thought I was crazy when I insisted we eat there, but he is now a convert. He had the tuna sandwich and was SO pleasantly surprised. They also have a vegetarian chili which is very well-reviewed, but I have not yet had the pleasure of trying it. :)

AK - We didn't find anything very good. Pizzafari seems to be the only option. I am intrigued by the picnic in the park option. Haven't seen a review of the actual veg sandwich though. If you're just in the mood for a snack, we had some onion rings at Flame Tree and they were good.

Epcot - There are two REALLY good options:

Sunshine Seasons in Future World (Land Pavilion) is a food court with lots of options. I had the asian selection which gives you 4 asian sides: garlic udon Noodles, stir fry vegetables, white rice, and broccoli. This was infinitely better than it sounds. They also have a soup and salad station, as well as a vegetarian sandwich. Tons of choices for everyone - carnivorous friends as well.

The other option is Tangierine Cafe in the Morrocan pavilion. I always get the vegetarian platter: falafel, tangierine couscous salad, hummus, tabouleh, lentil salad and marinated olives. It is plentiful, different and very satisfying. We eat there at least once on every trip. They also have chicken and lamb platters for the non-veg members of your party.

It kind of depends on whether you are in Future World at mealtime, or if you've already moved on to the World Showcase. Can't go wrong with either of these choice in my opinion.
