Trying to figure out whats the best vegetarian dining in WDW; looking for recent choices. I know they have veggie burgers at CS, but what else?

Thanks!

Oh, are you in for a yummy treat! Check out the menus http://allears.net/menu/menus.htm#epc

CS:
MK- Columbia Harbor House Lighthouse Sandwich - hummus with tomato & broccoli slaw $6.49 _ YUMMY!!!!!! Also Bowl of Vegetarian Chili $4.49 not bad.

Pinochio Village has pizza and diff salads

TS at MK has the plaza with a good verggie sandwich, they also do a veggie burger. Crystal Palace has an awesome buffet that is very veggie friendly. They had a ton of choices and great fruits!

Also at MK is cosmic rays, veggie burger and fixings bar.

Epcot: Tangerine Cafe Cs is so good! Mediterranean Specialties
Vegetable Platter $8.95 More than a meal!

Let me think, I will be back with more.

AT Epcot:

My fav Ts have been at Coral Reef... the tofu skewer is alright, the item on the last menu rotation was better. But I love the place and the fishies.

Le Cellier has a decent mushroom raviolli, but a great ceasar salad. (I eat there for my ice wine and creme brulee)

Chefs de France has a good Mac and Cheese, I havent tried the veggie lasagna.

Rose and Crown has a decent veggie curry if you like that.

Tutto Itailiano, almost anything there can be make vegetarian. I enjoyed the Bucatini Gratinati with Italian prosciutto ham, peas and parmesan cream (without ham)

We have done Garden Grill, they made me my own plate with rataoulli. It wasnt bad.

Sunshine seasons Cs has alot of choices. I can always find something there. They have a cuban sandwich, some asian choices.

I have done the Cantina Nachos - tortilla chips, beef, cheese, tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, sour cream, black refried beans without the meat. Its like eating fair food, it works in a pinch.

Boulangerie Patisserie in france, we get the cheese plate and share it often for a lunch. So good and my 8yr old is a French addict.

Kringla Bakeri og Cafe in Norway, Dh gets a sandwich, I get some pastries like school bread.

Animal Kingdom is a pain, you would think they would have more to offer...

The Tusker House Breakfast is very good. Its a buffet but one of the best! I was in awe of the make your own yogurt.

Usually I am stuck for Cs at Pizzafari. Its a good basic cheese pizza. Flame tree has a fruit plate but I have never tried it since I am usually starving.

Rainforest cafe has a decent veggie burger. Its not a Boca type so its something different.

Lets see.... I'll go with HS/ MGM next.

TS 50's prime time had a good stuffed pepper. I dont really love stuffed peppers but I ate all of this one and Dh (the meat eater) was picking off my plate also. Very good.

Sci-Fi has the tufu, its good if your are in a tufu mood. I split here half the time I get that, half the time I want a veggie burger and fries. Its a boca type burger fyi.

Mama Melrose (I wasnt a vegetarian when we ate here in 05 so that is my disclaimer.) I would easily go back now, we keep trying new places... I would try a flat bread or the penne vodka without the meat.

CS: To be honest I hit Staring rolls with Dh and DD ride the rockin roller coaster. They have the best pastries! Yummy!

We usually do Toy Story pizza planet, its decent and right by the muppets so we go there by default. The veggie burgers are all boca type and kinda dry. I have had 2 in the park and now just go with pizza at Toy Story pizza planet.

veggie sandwich in HS right next to Indiana Jones. I want to say the backlot express? The black bean salad was yummy too. I also had a yunny boca burger near Tower of Terror. Sorry I can not remember the names of the restaurants.

I also had delicious breakfasts at CP and Chef Mickey's. I am a veggie and can't have dairy so the chef's made me delicious fresh waffles. YUM!

I also highly recommned Boma. I had the best tofu dish. It was so yummy. The chef made me a tofutti sundae for dessert too. YUM!

The resorts TS:

My favorite (currently) resort Ts is the Wave at the Contemporay. They have the best veggie dish, OMG! Its a veggie stew with rice, but its not a stew like you would imagine. Nothing soupy about it and its very, very good! Plus dessert here, you get 3 desserts, 3!

Cape May clam bake at the beach club, Dh was happy, I was bored. You wont starve but you wont be in a hurry to go back.

1900 park Fare at the GF is a good basic buffet. Dh gets his carved meat, I get strawberry soup, etc. Its full of choices and seems to make everyone in the family happy.

The Grand Floridean Tea was so good. I let them know I was a vegetarian, we did the Grand Tea. It was like a small meal, very good and they were awesome!

We tried the Whispering Canyon Cafe, I had the veggie enchelada. Spare yourself and dont try it. It was gross. Like baked beans stuffed into a shell. There are so many good choices at Disney but I wanted to try the place and I still regret it.

this is very helpful. thanks for the info. we have several veggietarians (as my 4 year old nephew calls himself) in our group and need to be planning accordingly in picking restaurants.:flower3:

BTW, unless they have brought it back, the Rainforest Cafe no longer has their wonderful veggie burgers (we were all so very disappointed on our trip this July when we couldn't get them anymore).

You may want to look at this website for menus:

The Columbia House (which was mentioned) if our favorite CS. At Epcot we tend to go to The Land food court because there are a lot of choices, but when we are back in the World Showcase, we like Morraco.

At Animal Kingdom there aren't a lot of choices for us, so we tend to go to the Pizzafari.

At DHS, we usually leave and go to Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club, but when we stay, we like the Prime Time Cafe (which is a table service).

Have a great trip,
DJ

My DH is vegetarian and his favourite CS restaurant is Tangierine Cafe, followed by Columbia Harbour House.

For TS he has enjoyed most meals, some of his favourites being Boma, Jiko, Citricos and Spoodles. I wrote a dining review which included about 28 TS restaurants, and pics/reviews of my DH's vegetarian choices. Link is here if it might help you http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1980338

Everything sounds so good; except I HATE tofu.....ewww:eek: I usually sub it with beans/lentils/cheese for protein.

Do they still have the vegetarian chili somewhere???

Columbia Harbor house has it on the cs menu at Magic Kingdom.

(I hate tofu for the most part, its a texture thing with me. Contact the specific place, I have had something else prepared or at worst had to survive with a huge salad for a meal.)

We were there in Sept. my favorite places to eat were -

California Grill - we had a date night here, and they were so accomodating! I had a special "vegetarian unplugged" which was 4 small portions of different dishes, and some delicious veggie sushi.

Main St. Bakery in MK has a delicious tomato/mozzarella/basil sandwhich.

Chef Mickey's was pretty good - we did dinner and they had some yummy pasta and lots of good salads and sides.

Boma - wonderful! A chef came out and gave me a tour of the buffet and told me what was vegetarian. I filled up on lots of good and different dishes here.

Tangieriene Cafe in Epcot - Great falafel platter

I did not like - Garden Grill, Tony's Town Square, or Rainforest Cafe.

Over Thanksgiving weekend, I had some really good vegetarian egg rolls from a kiosk at Animal Kingdom. I don't think they are available except seasonally but the kiosk is along the walkway from Africa to Asia (or vice versa) along where Flights of Wonder's theatre is. I'm not a vegetarian but the egg rolls were excellent and very different from the usual fare.

I had a really good veggie sandwich at Roaring Forks CS at the WL.

I agree with much of the above, but I'll list my favs (and not so favs).

Epcot
Favs
Sunshine Seasons CS has a lot of veggie options.
Tangerine Cafe CS in Morrocco has a great veggie plate (hummus - yum).
Le Cellier TS has only one veg dish at a time. I've eaten there twice, and both times, the chef is willing to modify to your tastes and both dishes were FABULOUS.

Not Favs
Skip Garden Grill. In fact, I'd skip any family style place. I just didn't get the impression that they would work with me and I didn't get any choices or opportunity to have a choice.

MK
Fav
Columbia Harbor House CS Lighthouse Sandwich - yum!
Crystal Palace TS - dinner buffet had many veg choices.

Other
Jiko - also only had one veg dish, and I wasn't a fan (probably more of a taste thing and the veg option has since changed). However, there were two veg appetizers that we tried and those were delicious!

Check the menus http://allears.net/menu/menus.htm and you will probably find that there are more options than you would have thought!

One more note - at CS restaurants, there are a number without veg options on the kids' menu (most CS places seemed to have 3 options on the kids' menu). I asked for a grilled cheese sandwich at most places, and they made one (even if it was just cheese melted on a burger bun!).

This is most helpful to me, as well. Looking for options for Aug. trip. Need to be more prepared this time.

This past Sept. I had the most delicious meal at Ragland Road in DTD. The Portobello Burger. Yummy. The most awful..Eggplant at Mama Melrose.

It looks like it was briefly mentioned on the first page, but I have to give props to The Plaza at MK. They have the best veggie sandwich - it has hummus, pesto, tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, and mozzarella cheese. You get either broccoli slaw, sweet potato chips, or french fries. I always ask for an extra side of hummus (seen on the plate below) - forget the ketchup, I dip my fries in the hummus! I just had the sandwich on Tuesday (after my... oh, fifth time eating it - and it's still good). Here's a pic of it from August.

I'll think about the other places I eat vegetarian - and post again.

Wow, what great timing to find this thread. We just booked our first family Disney World vacation for May 2009. Hubby and I were there for our honeymoon in June 2001. DH basically eats vegetarian when we travel because he keeps kosher at home. Eight years ago it was difficult to find information on this topic. So nice to see resources available now. We also found that back then we could always ask for vegetarian options of meat dishes (like at Spoodles).

Can not wait to see other possibilities listed here as we get ready to book reservations.
