Best Veg Meal

Jiko - Yes, definitely more fancy. Although, we did see younger kids with their family's when we dined there. Boma is definitely comparable to Jiko and if your kids decide they don't like the spices of the African cuisine, there is always a kids buffet with traditional buffet food like mac n cheese, chicken fingers, etc. You'll have a lot of options at Boma.

Wolfgang Puck Express is in Downtown Disney Marketplace.

Wolfgang Puck Cafe is in Downtown Disney West Side. They also have fancier upstairs dining. We usually go to the Cafe -- this is where you can get the pumpkin ravioli.

I hope this clears up a bit for you. If not, ask away!!!

BTW -- I made a lunch PS for the Grand Floridian Cafe for our trip next month. We've never eaten there but the menu looks really good with a very alternative and natural-sounding veggie burger. I get sick of the regular soy patties and Garden Burger. This one looks very different and we can't wait to try it! :)

CRSNDSNY, you are right, that veggie burger does sound good! (seriously, we need a licking-my-chops smilie!) Thanks for all your help!

So we'll probably be skipping Jiko this time :sad1: . Usually my children do very well in resturants at home, but with the on-the-go environment of WDW, we really try to keep the expectations to a minimum all around. That said, maybe dh and I can still get a slightly "fancier" meal at Wolfgang Puck's cafe. If that doesn't work out, though, we still have the Earle to look forward to.

I love the Kit Carson Chicken Salad at Pecos Bills in MK (Frontierland)--only without the chicken, of course.

Here's the description: Freshly tossed grilled chicken, jicama slaw, lettuce, vegetables and cheese in a lime vinaigrette $6.39; served without grilled chicken $4.69." (Prices as of August 04)

Juliah -- I haven't tried this, though DH and I had a similar salad at Columbia Harbour House which we asked for without the chicken. Here is the description of the salad:
Garden Galley Salad - mixed greens with chicken, pecans, pineapple and feta cheese $6.39
Well, lo and behold after a few bites delving more deeply into the salad were bits and chunks of chicken. Eeew. They took it back no questions asked and he reordered the Lighthouse half sandwich and chili instead.

I hope they don't just 'pick' the chicken out at Pecos Bill's.

YIkes! Thanks for the heads-up on Columbia Harbor House. Glad I went for the chili!

I didn't see any evidence of chicken having been in the one at Pecos Bills--perhaps because they actually offer a vegetarian version on the menu? It doesn't sound like the other salad, either. It's more of a slaw, only with larger shreds than a typical slaw and a very fresh-tasting dressing.

Oooh, oooh! For those of you who have had the vegetarian chili at Columbia House, two questions:

1) Where on earth is Columbia House? I'm not a total newbie, but I haven't heard of that one.

2) And also, are the olives in the chili green ones, or black ones? My boyfriend's a vegetarian and I haven't had too hard of a time choosing restaurants because he does eat fish. But he absolutely LOVES green olives (green olive and cheese pizza is his all time fave) and I figured that if this turns out to be made with green olives, then I'll make it a point to include that in our trip.

Thanks!! You all are the best!!

Columbia Harbour House is next to Peter Pan's Flight and across from Haunted Mansion and It's a Small World in Fantasyland. The olives are black from what a recall...they are sorta slices/slivered. Yummy!

A few years ago I had 2 of the best veggie meals I've ever had at WDW...been a veggie for 34 years, so that's saying something! One was a mushroomy "Napolean" I think at Mamma Melrose's at the Studio. Outstanding! Anyone know if it's still there?

The other was another mushroom based lasagna like dish at Le Celier in Canada. They also had a gourmet Macaroni and Cheese to die for that I "helped" DD eat. Loved the ambience (and dessert menu!) at Le Celier.
I'd love an update from someone who's been there recently.
