Best value dining

I should have asked this question sooner since we are leaving tomorrow! We are a party of six (all 14 or over) and my husband hyperventilates if the menu prices seem exorbitant or unreasonable. I like to do one sit down meal a day--usually lunch or dinner and we spend almost all of our time at WDW at the parks. I'm going to try my luck at getting PSs each morning for the park we visit that day.

I have been looking at this board and the budget board and here are some of the ideas I have for sit down meals:

Animal Kingdom: Tusker House (we've done the Flame Tree before and my husband liked it very much but I thought we should try something new--mistake?)
MGM: 50's Prime Time
Epcot: Garden Grille
MK: Liberty Tree Tavern

The rest of our meals we'll be at counter service places (turkey legs, etc.). Any suggestions for reasonable but decent quality sit down or counter service would be appreciated. Thanks.

One way I've found to save a few $$ is to have lunch be your sitdown meal of the day. Most restaurants have the same menu for lunch or dinner, but lunch is a little cheaper. 50's PT (I believe) is one that has the same price at either meal.

Hope this helps!!! :teeth:

Also, you might want to try Trails End @ Fort Wilderness. The dinner is great and I heard breakfast was also good value.::yes::

I would second the Trail's End suggestion, although it is a buffet (with excellent service, however). Their fried chicken and cornbread is out of this world! You can't beat the price, which includes several entrees and sides, a salad bar, soup, and a couple of desserts. We try and go here every trip-- it's a nice boat ride over from MK and a good way to get away from the crowds for a bit and unwind.

For a nice sit-down meal, we've always enjoyed the Plaza Restauarant in Magic Kingdom on Main Street. In fact, we ended up at Plaza for a second lunch last trip after a poor server experience at Liberty Tree Tavern. The Plaza has very large and delicious sandwiches (with the cutest little ketchup jars for the fries!) and decadent sundaes if you have any room. We found the prices to be very reasonable.

Your list looks very reasonable. I second having a late lunch rather than dinner to save a little money. I've eaten at 50's PT and the food was very good. Garden Grill is on my must-do's for next trip!

I was just going to say that Tusker House is great! In fact, we are making ourselves eat at Flame Tree on our next trip because we've gone to Tusker House on our last three. It's time for us to try something new too.

Just make sure if you call for a PS and want a late lunch that you make sure they will still be serving the lunch menu. Some places stop serving lunch earlier than others, and a meal at Teppanyaki in Japan cost us a ton more because of my poor planning!

As others said a late lunch saves money:teeth:

The Garden Grille is a good Epcot choice as you can eat as much as you want.:D After stuffing yourself you won't want anything else until at least breakfast.
