We've used the Walgreens clinic just outside of Disney Springs. We were in and out with the prescription filled in around 30 minutes. We didn't make an appointment but you can do so online if desired.
Could you tell us exactly where this is? With the new pedestrian bridges at Disney Springs, this could be WONDERFUL IF it is across the street...
Unfortunately it's not that close. It has been a few years since went there but I'm pretty certain we used the one on S.Apopka Vineland Rd just past Palm Parkway. It was a left turn out of Hotel Plaza Blvd - minutes away. We had a car but you could easily get a taxi if needed.Could you tell us exactly where this is? Lake Buena Vista Centra Care is where I went my last visit when I had a upper respitory infection its on Apopka Vineland Rd too just go left at the cross Roads. They are very slow I was there before 8pm and didn't leave until after midnight to go get prescriptions filled and the Walgreens that are close by don't have 24HR pharmacies. I had to drive a long ways to another one that was 24HRS and didn't get back to my room until 230am. I went there a couple days earlier when I walked in they told me it was at least a 4 hour wait and there were only two people waiting in the lobby. If I need to see a Dr again on a trip I'll find a different Minor Emergency or be there before they open.
Agree about the in room doctor. Many years ago we were recommended to go to one of the urgent care centers - can't recall the name. We took our sick 4 yr old with our 2 yr old along as well and it was ridiculously crowded. They weren't going to take our very good insurance and actually advised us not to wait there but to request the in room doctor, who was also affiliated with them, as the charge would be pretty much the same and we could wait there comfortably. It cost us $200 but with kids that young it really was worth it to be able to wait in our room - plus the doctor was just wonderful. This was before Walgreens/CVS clinics were available all over the country. Now it's easy to find a quick solution to those vacation illness issues!DD (adult on DCP) got strep and went to Lake Buena Vista Centra Care with great insurance. Guess they saw her coming, demanded $400 deposit. I was on phone with her so I heard it all. They claim they would probably run tests that came to thousands of dollars so they needed that co-pay. I told her walk out the door and go two blocks to Walgreens. No wait, seen and given test and prescription for a total of $60 bucks. Also had horrible experience with Florida Celebration Hospital as did cousin.
Remember you are in a tourist area and they will fleece you if they can. I have only heard great things about doctor who comes to Disney hotel rooms.
What we liked about Walgreens was that even though we were in and out quickly, the NP did not rush through our visit. She talked to our son, listened to his complaints and checked for both strep throat and influenza. We thought she was very thorough for urgent care - and it was a huge plus to be able to get the prescription filled at the same time.I went to Buena Vista Urgent Care on World Dr. in March. On the drive to Orlando I started to feel really ill so right after checking in, I asked for the closest urgent care to POR and somehow ended up there. I paid my $50 copay for urgent care and was in for less than 5 minutes. I have worked for an ENT for 7 years and basically they just confirmed my thoughts on what it was. The doctor gave me a prescription and sent me down the road to Walgreens to fill. Yes, I'm glad I saw a doctor and was on the road to feeling better, but I wish I would've went somewhere else that actually gives the patient the time of day.
