I have to stay away from sugar and carbohydrates.
What are the best desserts with less or no sugar at TS ?

We have an ADR at:
Les Chefs de France
Crystal Palace
Garden Grill
Rain Forrest Café
50 Prime Time
Via Napoli
Plaza Restaurant
Coral Reef
T-Rex
Teppan Edo
California Grill
Liberty Tree Tavern
Tony’s

thank you !

The listings I have seen usually read "no sugar added," which isn't the same as no sugar. 50's Prime Time Cafe has a no sugar added cheesecake with strawberry sauce. But the milk and cheese in cheesecake has sugar in it naturally. I would ask if the strawberry sauce contained sugar. Tell your server of your situation, and they should have something to accommodate you.

You have a long list of ADRs, and, IMO as a diabetic, I would recommend you just skip dessert, bread, and pasta. Sometimes I would take a spoonful of someone else's dessert, just for a taste. I like to have a coffee or espresso after a meal. I take mine black, but you could use a sugar substitute.

There are certainly carbs in the sugar free options at the TS locations.

I would recommend you ask your server if there is any fruit available. At least you know those carbs are fruits and you can easily calculate the carbs for your dessert.

Also, if you are going low carb, I would suggest you stay away from the sauces/glazes. I was surprised to find out that most of the meats at Ohana were coated with some type of glaze that added a lot!

when we went to a few of the TS...I opted out of desserts...but when I did get a dessert, Sorbet sugar free...
Remember that most of the sugar free desserts have more carbs than a normal piece would....You could get a regular dessert if you need it and just try a few pieces...
I love the fresh fruit which has natural sugars and high carbs ...like cantalope and 17 grapes equal fifteen carbs....learned that at diabetic education...

Have fun and dont worry

I'm diabetic and keep a super close eye on my carbs. Sugar-free just isn't worth it, to be honest. Often those items have as many carbs, if not more than items made with sugar. My tactic? Instead of getting the (usually boring, still high carb and made with questionable ingredients) sugar-free dessert, I modify the rest of my meal so that I can use my carb allotment on a yummy dessert, which I usually share with DH. So, for instance, I ask the server to swap out any starchy sides like potatoes for a green vegetable and I skip the bread.

Thank you to all - I am pre-diabetic...next blood test in June - 3 weeks before we go.
I hope to come out negative.
Thanks!

Good luck! :goodvibes I hope it turns out well, but remember that even if you end up with a diagnosis of diabetes, it IS manageable and you are NOT going to be confined to nothing but a diet of lettuce and grilled chicken. :) Good for you for taking control and staying on top of your health.

Do remember that blood sugar control is really about total carbs, not just "sugar." You can do really well without the "sugar-free" stuff at Disney World as long as you think about what other carbs you're eating and keep portions reasonable. This is especially true with all the walking you'll be doing. I always need extra snacks just to keep my blood sugar from dipping too low while we're there!

Also, you can note your dietary restrictions in your ADR and 99.99% of the restaurants will be able to accommodate you.

Exercise is a key element in managing blood sugar levels. Eat smart and you will be fine! ;)
