Best TS dining for a solo traveler

So I am going solo September 6-15, and although I have the QS dining plan, I am thinking about booking a couple TS ressies.

Can you all give me some good recommendations for a not awkward TS meal at WDW for a solo?

i dont really think any of them would be awkward. ive never had any issues while on my solo trips, even at the signature restaurants. i would just pick them based on what parks your planning on being at or the hotels nearby and the sift through the menu's to see what your more interested in.

I've been solo to LTT, BOG and Le Cellier. Le Cel was a bit awkward, I felt like people were looking at me and every time I had to speak to a new CM they'd say some variation of "oh, not until your entire party gets here" to which I had to be like "I AM the entire party!!" I also saw other solo's eating at BOG for dinner though and everyone was lovely, as with LTT. I had ADR's for SciFi too but wound up cancelling because of plans changing.

I totally agree!! After your first TS meal, you will be fine. I've been solo at:

I've never had a problem dining solo at WDW. It's relaxing, and the CM's are great. Even character meals are fine.

I've had good experiences with TS meals on my solo trips. Here's my list:

Food and service were excellent at these listed below, and I never felt awkward.
Via Napoli (twice)
Flying Fish
Les Chefs de France
Artist Point
La Hacienda de San Angel
Captain's Grille (breakfast 3 times)

I did lunch at Raglan Road this year; wasn't as bowled over by it as many are, but I don't think it was because I was solo - I think this is a place that's probably better in the evening and if you fancy a pint or two with your meal.

I've gone several times solo. My favorite TS is lunch at Tokyo Dining. The servers really go out of their way to make you feel special. One of my servers made me an origami heart... she slipped it into my to-go box (ginger cake!).

I also try to eat at the bar at the Tune In Lounge (attached to 50's Prime Time Cafe'). There are usually other solo guests there to chat with. I have yet to eat 'alone'!

I felt very awkward when I first dined solo (now, I have no problems). The best place I first "broke the ice" comfortably dining solo was SciFi. Everyone's sitting facing the screen-not much talking going on-it's just like eating in front of the TV at home! I also felt OK at places where I had a great view-Chef's de France by the window, Rose and Crown patio-both for lunch-and Coral Reef, tank side. Just be forewarned at Coral Reef-if you get a tankside table, you'll spend a part of your meal in the company of little kids who've come up to see the fish. That's fine with me-they're great company for this grandma-but maybe not everyone would be thrilled. Dining solo, I've had no problem pointing out to hostesses at TS that since I'm solo and have no dining companion to talk with, I'd like a table with a good view/something to watch. They've always been super-nice, and I've gotten some lovely tables that way!

I have done a few TS solo and not had a bad experience. At Cali Grill the CM were great coming over and having a chat.

At Flying Fish they seated me at the bar with other solos and the group of us had a great night with the barman! Made some new friends that night

If you are concerned about awkwardness, carry something to occupy your mind like a few chapters of a book, postcards/pen, MP3 player. You can also go thru your photos and trash the not so good ones, or catch up on texting and emails. You will find that most other guests are quite involved in their own food and conversation, even where the tables are close to each other.

I've made 3 or 4 solo trips to Disney I lost count LOL
I like to go for my birthday in March and spend 5-7 days.

I do Deluxe Dining plan...honestly I hate Quick service.
Quick service to me is more like fast food and I can get fast food like burgers, hot dogs, chicken fingers sandwiches and fries anywhere...

I LOVE the cuisine at Disney, and all the table service restaurants have to offer....especially character meals!

I have eaten solo at so many of the TS restaurants at Disney
Alot of times, you end up conversing with ppl seated nearby, and sometimes CM's.

I have never had an awkward meal dining solo!

I love Flying Fish up at the counter in front of the kitchen.
I enjoyed watching the chefs work their magic and they also talk to you while they are working! Flying fish is a signature..so more expensive.

If you like Character meals like I do...no worries...my servers have always offered to take pics of me with characters. Never had a problem there.
I had a fantastic time interacting with Donald Duck at Cape May Cafe breakfast in March it wasn't busy and Donald even helped celebrate my birthday. It was one of the best character interactions I have ever had and I was solo!

No reason to feel awkward about dining alone.
I have met alot of nice ppl during my solo trips.
Honestly, you could choose ANY table service restaurant and be fine!

I had the same thing happen at Tokyo Dining. The servers really fussed over me, and even moved me to a seat near the window.

I went last year solo for the first time (although I'm a regular at DL solo) and had a great time. At the time I had booked:

Chefs de France, T-Rex, Crystal Palace, H&V, San Angel Inn, Y&Y, Sci-Fi

I never felt awkward at any of them, and my waiters (yes, all male, I don't know how that happened...) went out of their way to make me feel welcome and chatted with me a bit. CP and H&V were my first character meals, and while they were fun, I have no interest in them this year.

So far for this year, I have:

T-Rex, Y&Y, San Angel Inn, LTT, H&V (dinner), Chefs, Boma, Kona Cafe

Most are repeats, so they must have been good!

I just got back from my first solo trip, and dining alone was the one thing that honestly terrified me (besides the 17 hour drive). To be honest, once I did it one time, I loved it! My first meal was lunch at Kona Cafe. The only issue I had there was I wish they hadn't sat me next to a very loud and obnoxious family (screaming children, yelling parents). I would have liked a table in the corner all by myself so I could enjoy the atmosphere and read my Kindle. I also ate at Le Cellier, and was seated next to a lovely couple celebrating their anniversary. We talked quite a bit, and they gave me recommendations for later on in my trip. That evening I tried Via Napoli, and besides waiting too long for my server to bring my check at the end of the meal, that was nice, too. My pizza came out within 10 minutes of my ordering it, and the tiramisu came out almost right away. I did Boma one night for dinner, and that was also a great experience! The server was very friendly and suggested several things for me to try, and was quick to bring me my check when I was ready.
I had BOG, but for lunch, and I highly recommend going there just to sit and soak up the beautifulness of the castle! I ate at the Grand Floridian Cafe for dinner one night, and besides the snobiness of most of the people eating around me, that was also great. My waitress chatted with me a bit and was also very quick in getting me everything I requested. The last TS I tried was the Hollywood Brown Derby, and while the service was the absolute best of my trip, the food really wasn't.
I brought my Kindle a couple of times, but usually didn't really have time to read it. After ordering, I would get on my phone or Ipod and check emails and Facebook, and before I knew it my food was in front of me. I also enjoyed people watching a little bit, and watching children experience the magic of Disney.
