I need your best tricks for getting labels off of jars. I've been saving them all winter to store herbs in. Today was my first pick-up from the Organic Farming Co-op I joined this year. They gave me 3 BIG bunches of basil...already.

I soak them in water overnight. The labels usually fall off by that time.

Once you get the paper off, put creamy peanut butter on the glue that's left. Let the jars sit overnight and the glue should wipe right off.

Nail polish remover after you get the paper off.

My second (sometimes first) option would be Goo B Gone

I just run them through the dishwasher and get the label off before they dry.

I've found spraying them with PAM and letting them sit for a while workds pretty well.

I run water through my coffee pot to get the Campbell's labels off soup cans. The steaming hot water melts the glue in 30 seconds or less. Would this work if you let the water sit in the jars a little longer? Remember that they will be hot when you touch them.
