I'm getting conflicting info on the net.

I did something really stupid yesterday. I was trying to exercise very early A.M. and the routine I was doing had very little "movement", mainly weights and abs. So I decided not to wear my shoes because I didn't want to wake the house with my noise. There was a segment of calisthenics and I did a few jumping jacks, shoeless. No big deal, I spent my childhood doing stuff like that!!:sad2:

Well, I felt the inside of my left foot "pull" during the jumping jacks and I quickly backed off of them. All day yesterday, I was limping a bit and it was hurting. This morning, the area is a tad bit swollen and it's hard to walk with a very noticeable limp. I am icing it now but am confused as to when to use heat if at all. The area affected is my inside ankle bone, the area below it and immediatly behind it (inside heel area).

So, is it ice, heat, stretches, sit on the couch? It seems to hurt worse when I haven't been moving around. I guess it tightens up. I can't take ibuprofen either.

RICE as soon as possible after the injury.....rest, ice, compression, elevation.
I would also take some ibuprofen to help relieve pain and inflammation.

Hope you feel better soon!!

Twenty minutes on and twenty minutes off (with the ice). ::yes:: Heat will only make swelling and inflammation worse, so don't add heat until all the swelling has subsided.

Ibuprofen will assist with reducing the inflammation, so if your stomach can tolerate it, do take some. ::yes::

Take care now and keep those shoes on! ;)

Thanks. I'll stick with the ice.

Unfortantely, as I said in my earlier post, I can't do ibuprofen. I'm allergic to it. Too bad because I know it would really help.

Ah, missed that. So aspirin is out then too? It is too bad, because along with the analgesic properties there is the lessening of the inflammation.

Hopefully, the ice will do the trick. ::yes::

I haven't taken aspirin in about 20 years! Besides the recently developed ibuprofen allergy, I also had bleeding of the stomach (due to me taking it regularly). I was instructed to avoid all NSAIDS (of which aspirin is one) unless it was an absolute emergency. I'm not sure if this qualifies! I sure could use the pain relief though.
