Best Travel Method from UK?

Sorry for so many questions, hope you don't mind!

We are flying from Cardiff in September into CDG for our first visit to Disney Paris, how does everyone else prefer to travel?

Train, Car and other?

The Eurostar is very easy, but it's not always the cheapest way to travel.

We usually go by Eurotunnel; partially because it allows us to take our car and stay at the Davy Crockett Ranch and partially because it's cheaper for us (you pay per car, not per person, it works out at about £19.50 - £25 per person + petrol costs).

I guess flying could also be easier than Eurostar for people living up north. The problem with Eurostar is of course you have to get it from either London or Ashford, so if you live somewhere like, say, Manchester then flying to Paris direct from Manchester may be easier.

We fly with Easyjet- aint the best but does save a lot of money lol. I'd love to try the Eurostar but it would mean getting a train to London and possibly staying over night so it would cost a lot more. But we are only about 20 mins away from the airport in the car so thats the easiest for us.

I fly from the East Midlands - my house to DLRP in less than 6 hours (and thats including the hours addition for the time difference ).

How do you find driving out in France, finding everything and parking?

OH loves the driving the roads are much better there than here. Quite a straight forward route from Calais although it does take about 3 hours.We used the sat nav when we went last which was much better so had no problem finding anything. Parked at hotel and used their buses but we did take the car to Val Du Europe.

We normally fly or drive. Depends on length of trip.

If we're going for a weekend/couple of days we fly from East Mids as we live only 5 miles away from the airport.

For us to go by Eurostar it means staying a night in a hotel in London as the early train into London isn't good enough to get the direct train to Disney. To me Eurostar seems desperately inconvenient if you live more than an hour or so north of london.

If we're going for at least 4 nights then we drive. And agree with others driving is handy for bringing back more disney goodies (space/weight is always limited on planes and eurostar - as is what kinds of items you are allowed as hand luggage - snow globes and some glass items are a no no on planes for example).

Plus driving means you can also pick up some booze and other goodies that are either cheaper or better than in UK.

Driving in France is fine. The trickiest part I find is roundabouts as my right hand drive car means i'm on the wrong side for clearly seeing onto the roundabout for oncoming traffic. Normal driving is fine though as your mirrors make up for being on the wrong side. Personally i've always found the French more considerate to foreigners than us Brits are.

Main thing is to relax and if you're unsure take your time, don't just get straight ontot the motorway if you're not comfortable. You can always get off the ferry and find your way to a supermarket (cite d'europe is really close to the chunnel exit for example) just to get a bit of practice on roads where the locals see nervous brits every day of the week.

The AA has a good set of info on what the legal requirements are for driving abroad on their website (like needing to take original registration docs, warning triangles etc)

Eurostar! But if i knew how to drive i would so drive to DLP!

Living in Scotland, it's a bit pointless us going any other way but air. We've checked out all the cheapy airlines Ryanair/Easyjet, but most come with hidden charges or the flight times are all wrong. We fly with Airfrance, and it works out really well, arrive at CDG at 9.20am and leave CDG to return home at 8.20pm so don't miss much time at DLP

We've just driven for the first time (previous trips were on Eurostar) and it was really easy

I prefer to drive as the roads are a lot easier to drive on, due to lack of queues. You are also not restricted to what you can take & I find it to be quick.

The only problem I have is when I get fuel from the Auchan supermarket, UK people have to use the underground station & everytime I drive on the wrong side in the car park I fine driving on the right everywhere else. Fortunately the French are very considerate when I driving at them head on

Completely agree- I love the eurostar and do also wish I could get it everywhere The downside for us is that we have a 6 hour drive down to ashford but luckily we have family to stay with making this option the best for us.

The first time we flew from Manchester- but i wouldnt again- far to much hassle.

I def think we will try driving tho in the future as well.

We also drive there and go by Eurotunnel even though we have a 5/6 hr journey to Ashford first. We find it so much easier and can just throw loads of stuff in the car and have loads of space to bring stuff back. However saying that we nearly always go to DLP as part of a longer holiday in France- we've only ever done it once just to DLP.

For us the holiday starts immediately we leave home as we make the journey part of the holiday so it doesnt seem too bad.
We usually stay overnight in Ashford but this last trip we drove overnight and got the 3.00am shuttle - see my latest trippie - 12 hrs from home to DLP not bad really when you consider the distance

we have taken used Eurostar once before and we taking Eurostar again in October which I'm really looking forward to ! All other times we've flown from Newcastle, once using Air France which cost a fortune but that was in the early days and since then we have downgraded to Easyjet
