Hi, we are starting to get ideas for a grand gathering in Dec 2007, and we are looking at tentative dates so we can all plan work schedules accordingly (there are a lot of teachers in our family, and they need to schedule way in advance, lol!) Anyway, I had always heard that it is cheaper to fly on certain days of the week, but when I am plugging in dates for Airtran, they are all showing up the same rate.

I am guessing that Sat and Sun traveling is busier at the airports, but are there any other advantages you have seen with booking say a Wed-Wed trip instead of a Sat-Sat trip? How about with rental car rates?

Thanks in advance!!!!

Well, I don't know the real answer to your question, but I will tell you what just happened to me. I planned a Fri-Wed trip and then started to try and book air and Friday was already all gone! So, I ended up adding a day to the beginning of the trip and had no problem getting a Thursday flight instead. The return (on a Wed.) was no problem either way.

Yes, if you wait and book closer to your departure date, a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday flight will be cheaper. If you book at your 331 day window, it probably won't matter.

That being said, December is a tricky month to fly in because of the holidays. I am currently looking for airfare for a Dec 10-17 trip and starting pricing at 331 days out (the earliest I could book), as of now we are still getting high price quotes because we are trying to fly after the 15th of December.

Good luck!!
