Hello!

I am going to Disney World in Jan 2008 and would like to stay at the Contemporary but it's booked. I don't want to pay for the GF or Polynesian and was wondering which Disny Resort has the best transportation (shortest wait/drive) to the park.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!:)

It varies significantly, as there are 4 parks. Thus, for example, all the Epcot resorts are within walking distance to two of the parks, but require buses to the other two parks. Similarly, many of the Magic Kingdom resorts are very close to the MK, but are lengthy bus rides to some of the other parks.

Overall, the Disney transportation system is pretty good and can be relied on to get you from any resort to any park relatively quickly. With that in mind, I would choose a resort based on price, theming and amenities and not worry so much about transportation to the parks.

Wilderness Lodge - If you are planning on doing MK most - you can't go wrong w/ WL. They have a boat to MK and bus that is about a 4 minute ride. If you must you can take a cab to Contemporary and walk over to MK. We did that for our early morning reservation at CRT.

Why pay for a cab from the WL to the CR when you can take a FREE Blue flag WDW Watercraft motor launch directly to the CR in the morning??? :rolleyes1

The Blue flag launches on Bay Lake begin operation at 0645.

There is no resort at Disney that has the best transportation, they are all going to have good days and bad days and the bad days will depend on who is doing the reporting.

I never recommend anyone pick a resort based on transportation. I would recommend theme, price, amenties and location for selecting a resort.

We have been at Disney resorts and would report excellent transportation for our stay and I will come on here and someone else will have been there at the same time, same resort and report horrible problems. :confused3

I think the EPCOT resorts are the best located. Walk or boat ride to EPCOT, MGM, Boardwalk. The most centrally located resort area to all things Disney.

Because a $4-$5 cab ride "buys" us about 30 minutes of sleep in the morning.

You can "just miss" the launch and then you wait another 20 minutes for it. The cab ride takes all of 5 minutes and the walk is less than 10 minutes. While we are getting ready in the morning, we call down to valet servcies for a cab, when we get downstairs, our cab in waiting and off we go.

Agree!!! If you worry about transportation too much, renting a car is the most practical choice.

CSR has great transportation. Not shared with any resort. It's is very close to AK, Epcot and MGM.

I would say that the Boardwalk and BC/YC have the "best" transporatation because you can walk to two parks if you wanted to. Of course everything depends on what your plans are for park visiting. Our family, with small children, like Epcot the best so Epcot resorts are a no brainer. However, our next trip will be a split stay between BC/Poly to try something new. I would aalso echo the PP who said not to pick a resort based on transportation, there are too many variables. Look at price, theme, amenities, etc.

Dear Amanda
This happenend to me also last october CR was booked and I called Liberty Travel and they had it available they buy blocks of rooms. They are also reasonable.

Keeping checking with CRO to see if CR becomes available. I've stayed at POFQ twice and really love it. It's small and the grounds are beautiful. It has its own bus stop at MK in the evening, a huge plus for me. It also has a boat to DTD as well as buses. I really like the live entertainment there at night.

I've always liked AKL's transportation-- they have one busstop and don't share with any other resort. I think the only other resort like that is Pop.

We stayed at WL one Dec. We never knew when the busses and boats were going to stop somewhere else. One night it took over 45 minutes to get from MK to WL by bus--I think the driver got lost :rotfl: .

We've stayed at the Poly. That was nice with the monorail but we just lucked out staying there when they were rehabing POFQ. We've never been able to afford to go back.

Stayed at POR. Boat to DTD was nice but had to stand a lot on the busses when we could get them to stop for us.

We like CSR. Short rides to the parks and back. Never had to stand. That's why we're heading back in a couple of months!

You guys are the best!!! Thank you so much for you great suggestions. A special thanks for mentioning Liberty Travel and another for the cool transportation link. I really appreciate the help!

Your very welcome!
I had the same problem and Liberty was the answer to my prayers

CSR!! It's not shared and is very quick to the parks because of it's central location. CSR only has 4 stops vs 7 at CBR. POR has 4 but shares with POFQ. I would guess any resort that doesn't share buses should have a leg up on those that do.
