HI- I will be travelling alone with my 4 yr old son in April and it's our 1st Disney trip- what is the best way to get from the airport to the resort (POR)? I have heard cab, town car, bus...I'm wondering if I need to make reservations in advance and what the price differences are? Any help would be wonderful! Thanks! :flower:

There are pros and cons to most every option. If you are looking for a unique experience that is a bit more expensive, try a stretch limo; if you want fast, efficient curbside service that is less, order a town car. We did the MEARS our first trip many years ago and I'd never do it again because you have no idea how long it will be before you're actually leaving the airport, nor when you will get to the resort.
Best source: go to the website of the airport you are arriving at and click on their ground transportation menu. We've used Happy Limo and been very satisfied;there are other limo companies that help sponsor this board, so they are a good bet as well. As far as towncars (larger sedans in which your party are the only passengers) offer more selection, so you may have to shop around for the best price, although they are usually within a few dollars of each other. Each transport vendor will have a website on the menu and you can click on each for the basics. Your destination is no issue--any one will take you there.
Stick with the major vendors; they are safe. Book a round trip if you can, you will have less worry and even may save some $$. Have a wonder ful time with your son!! :cool1:

We used Happy Limo as well and chose and SUV(Ford Excursion). Bigger than a town car, but cheaper than a limo. My DD 11 thought it was cool. :cool1: For our return trip they did not have the SUV so we had a free upgrade to a white stretch limo! I believe you can get a discount code for them as well from mousesavers.com.

We used www.transportation2disney last Oct. They will even personalize a sign for the driver to hold in the baggage area. "Mickey is Waiting for Mason" . Also you will get a 30 minute store stop to pick up snacks for the room and you can also request to stop at the entrance of WDW and have the driver take your picture with your camera. I believe the price is $80 round trip with a coupon on there website.

We will be using them again in April only this time there is a large group of us and we will need a Van instead of the towncar.

I have done the mears thing and wasn't happy because there was too much waisted time. I would be afraid to use a cab because the price would vary. Depending on traffic ect.

HI!

Our first vacation at Disney World we used the Mears Transportation Service and it was totaly fine. We are planning to use them again this July!

Have Fun!

We've used a towncar everytime, and I will have a hard time ever doing anything differently. I know that Disney now has a perk offered when you can take their transportation for free, but it still scares me. I've heard nightmares about Mears. Imagine just getting off of an airplane and all you want to do is get to your resort, but you have to stand in line instead for this bus. Then you get on the bus with loads of other people. You don't go directly to your resort. You go to different resorts on the Disney property. It's not just letting people off. They have to unload all of the luggage. If you have a larger group, a towncar can be cheaper than Mears.

hmmmm. interesting. not sure why it was blocked. okay its two words, no spaces its not my ride..... its _____

I went down with my two sons in January and we used Tiffany towncar. The car was new and very nice. The driver was waiting for us in the baggage area when we got off the plane. Everything went off without a hitch. I will definately use them on our next trip.

I've done it both ways...paid a towncar service and took the Mears...Theres advantages and disadvantages of both. The towncar can get pricey but you get picked up and taken to your resort right away. On the way back you get picked up and taken to the airport.

The Mears is much cheaper but you have to wait for a bus (if it has already left) and then wait for them to load it up and make as many stops to whatever hotels it is stopping at. They're not all Disney resorts, and on the way back they have to pick you up way early so they can make other stops on the way to the airport.

We plan on taking the free Disney transportation to the GF in July but we are taking a car or taxi back to the airport so we don't have to leave 4-5 hours in advance to the airport.

Have fun!

It has been a long time since I've used Mears but I thought the cost was around $28 per person round trip? It would be about the same price even with the tip to get a town car if you have 4 people as it would be over $100 for Mears. www.transportation2disney is $80 round trip with a tip your looking at about $100.00. Also with a towncar you get a store stop to get supplies for the room. Which is cheaper than buying supplies on site. Also there is no other stops or waiting for other people to board the bus. You get personalized service.

We are going in April and have requested to be picked up by a Van. It will cost us $115.00 round trip this includes the tip and of course the store stop. If all 11 of us were to pay for Mears it would be way more expensive. Plus you get personalized service.

DH and I hired a town car from Southern Elegance for our 2004 holiday trip. It was $90 + tip roundtrip, and the service was excellent. We had the same driver for both trips, and we were surprised with an upgrade to a stretch limo for our return to the airport. It was a little less painful to leave since we had a fancy ride alongside a giant Mickey, Minnie and Goofy. I'd highly recommend this company. Their customer service is excellent.

:earsboy: Thumbs up for Tiffany Town Cars. We used them for our trip last week. They were prompt, the car was lovely and the service was first class. We got a coupon from their website. :earsgirl:

We also used Tiffany for our trip. Our DS was 3 at the time and after flying for most of the day he was in no mood to wait around much longer. Our driver was fantastic and we plan to use them again in July. They provide a grocery stop and booster seat. The whole thing just seemed to make our lives easier and now we can't imagine any other way!

Starting in May, Disney is offering shuttle and luggage service, too. Its supposed to be awesome. You check your bags at departure and dont see them again until the hotel.

FYI, Disney will be using Mears for this....

Hi All

I've been checking around and getting quotes on for our car service to and from POR for our trip in June/July. Last time at Disney we used Mears...I did some calculations and for a party of 5 I can afford to use my own private car. I called several car services and the best value and customer service that I have found has been from Magictransportation.com. Plus they added a stop at the grocery store, free stroller to use at the parks etc.

Sounds good to me!
