Hello All-
Planning a June 2016 trip with my husband (planning a second honeymoon :)) and we want to do one of the extra tours Disney offers. The question is, which one??? Is the Keys to the Kingdom tour the best one? Is there others we should look into!?

Any suggests would be great!

Depends what your into. There really isn't a bad tour unless you don't like the topic. KTTK is a great tour if you can book it (it can be hard to get in it). It's a great backstage tour to start with and reasonable price. Make sure your ready for some of the magic to be shown to you. For some, knowing how it happens might have the opposite effect on how you view the place. (goes for any backstage tour).

I have taken 13 different tours, several multiple times. I have not taken a bad one, they are all excellent. I always suggest people to take their first tour in the park they like the best...MK, Epcot or AK. No real individual tour at the Studios.

Don't forget the discounts...AP, DVC and Disney Visa, all 15%.

If you have the time and don't mind spending a few bucks, the Backstage Magic tour is the crown jewel. It was my first tour and really put me in tour mode for many future trips over the years.

Thanks for the information! We have been researching all the different options. For the Backstage Magic Tour I know it includes the park ticket for the day but once the tour is complete can you go back into a park on that same package or do you need to have a ticket for the day that would be included in your tickets for the trip?

In 2014 when I took this tour, I can't remember if I had a ticket or needed it but I did need my own ticket to get back into a park (It ends in the bus area outside of mk). Call up the tour booking number, you'll have a very fast answer on if you need a ticket and what kind.

I have taken the Magic Behind our Steam Trains tour, twice actually, and a couple others at Epcot. You cannot go wrong with any of them.

Our fav was the Marceline to MK tour! You learn about Walt's childhood and how he developed Main Street to look like the small town he spent some of his earlier years in. Super informative, back stage tour of the HM, private narrated ride through of HM before park opening, private narrated trip through CP and there were only 6 other people with us. Not overly expensive either, we both LOVED it.

We did the Keys to the Kingdom tour for the first time last week. It was an ok tour and I probably wouldn't have done it had I known how little you see the utilidors. I knew it was just an hour at the end but had no idea we were kept In the little square hallway down underneath Main Street the entire time. We literally stood in front of some photos while our guide talked about every single one for 45 min. We finally turn the corner only to see 10 more photos that she talked about. We were then led out of there. Was very disappointed to realize they stuck those pictures down there for the sole purpose of wasting an hour. These were photos you can find anywhere. We never got to see any other part of the utilidors and she never even talked about them. We had to ask where the clothing dept was and the other good places. Of course they were all down the one long hall we never venture near. We spent the entire time at the custodial dept hall.

As has been said before, do you have a favorite park? If so, whatever's your favorite is the best tour. My two best tours were in AK, not surprisingly because AK is my favorite park. Certain tours are available at certain times-for example, I think there's a landscape-focused tour that's only offered during the Flower and Garden festival. There may be a tour only offered during the Christmas holidays. I think those tours would be especially interesting.

On my most recent trip a couple weeks ago, we did the tour at Epcot. Behind the scenes/Futureworld.

It was really interesting, and I enjoyed it, but it was a lot of standing, which bothers me much more than walking.

My favorite part was that we got to ride Soarin. They took us in through a back entrance.

I just did the KTTK and Wild Africa Trek tours and both were awesome. I love AK, so WAT was right up my alley. KTTK was great if you love MK and learning about some of the secrets and and how things run there. I did Backstage Magic last year and it was pretty good, a little long, but you do get to see a lot and lunch is at Whispering Canyon. Lunch on the KTTK tour was at Columbia Harbour House. I agree that I don't think you can go wrong with any of the tours.

Very excited to see this topic. My boyfriend loves plants/trees/landscaping so I think in January I am going to book the Behind the Seeds tour at Epcot.

For my bday in May I really want to do the Wild Africa Trek. I would also like to do the Keys to the Kingdom at MK someday!

This is all great! I think we are going to pick between KTTK tour or the Backstage all day one! I have been to Disney many times and this will be my husbands second time!! (Got to catch him up!) so I am trying to make this trip a bit different from our first one when everything was new to him!

We've done KTTK and Marceline to MK, they were both excellent. Because our family are major HM fans, we loved the Marceline tour, but YMMV. I agree with Dan, they do a great job with all the tours. With respect to the Utilidors, I've done the tour, and been down there with a CM. If you've seen any of it, you've seen most of it. It's interesting for a couple of minutes, but after that...move along--there's nothing more to see here.

In my opinion Keys of the Kingdom is the best. A close second would be the tour that takes you around the Safari at Animal Kingdom, but you get out of the truck and do more interactive things and get closer to some of the animals. I forget the name of it though

We just took the kttk tour this week and really enjoyed it. Lisa was our guide and she was great! There were things I knew but other things that were new to me. My DH is not as into Disney as I am and he really liked it. Yes, we would have liked to sww more of the backstage areas but I dont want all the magic revealed :) We did have time to sit down and had several restroom breaks as well, which we also appreciated.

I loved KTTK. Would totally recommend it! We had the best tour guide ever (Matthew)!

Wasn't as wild abut Backstage Magic. I felt it was very expensive (at nearly $250!) for what you got on the tour. It takes an entire day. I hate to admit this, but i was sort of bored for about half of the tour! Some of the tour was great (loved the costume shop! and seeing the parade floats at AK was cool.) but other parts didn't engage my interest. At DHS, we just stood in front of a ride vehicle for ToT behind the scenes, and they explained a little about how the ride works. Didn't provide much info that I didn't already know. And behind the scenes at Epcot, it was so crowded that I couldn't the things they were talking about at all.

great thread! we are going on our DisneyMoon this August and are interested in trying some different things that we do not normally do.. since it's a special occasion and all :)
