Best tour for tweens?

We’d like to try a tour or two for our next trip, but our kids are aged 11-14, and I’ve noticed the “best” tours have an age minimum of 16.

So....

Are there any tours you have really enjoyed with tweens, in particular tours that emphasize the history or backstory of any of the 4 main parks? I assume Disney is pretty strict with the age policy?

Thanks!

You could go on a tour and let your tweens explore the park on their own for a few hours ( they have stay together)

Wouldn’t it totally depend what your kids are into?
DD is 13 and I booked the rhino experience because she loves animals
We are also doing EMM mornings but that is all at this point

Will the 11 year old be 12 at trip time?

And yes, they are very strict on age.

It doesn't fit in with the park history/back story theme, but DS11 and DS16 enjoyed Caring for Giants at AK. It was relaxing to take a break from the crowds (without losing a huge chunk of park time) and our guides were very knowledgeable.....and you get paper made from elephant poop 8-). For what it's worth, our guide did answer some AK history questions and talked about the history of the elephants program.

My teen/tween loved the Ultimate Day of Thrills tour. It doesn’t fit all of your criteria, but we thought it was fabulous.

We really enjoyed Wild Africa Trek. It's not a backstage tour, but you get an up close look at many of the animals plus some adventure to go along with it (hanging bridge, etc.). You also get a really delicious, big snack toward the end with a beautiful view of the savannah. If your kids like animals, this is a great tour.

Unfortunately my 11 yo actually turns 11 ON the trip. It’s his bday/spring break trip! Thanks for the info. I was afraid they would be strict about age (but I understand).

Very true. My kids are Disney freaks, especially Disney history and the “back stage” of Disney (the underground corridors, hidden Mickey type stuff, behind the scenes of rides, back story of rides/Disney architecture, etc).

Love it! My kids would (oddly) get a huge kick out of the elephant poop!!!

Thx Holden. That sounds great, but unfortunately for our family of 5, might be a bit of a reach for us :worried:

Looks like the tours that my kids would love will just have to wait another year due to age restrictions :worried:...
Thank you all so much for your help!!!!

But of all the tours avail for us this March, DisneyWishes14 I love this idea! Didn’t even know it existed. It may not fulfill the Disney history stuff, but we would all love the Wild Africa Trek!! I just looked it up and read some other reports.....sold!

Thanks!!

Once your 10 year old is 12, this is the tour for you all, especially the history buffs. Walt Disney: Marceline to Magic Kingdom. It is an excellent tour.

I've taken 13 different tours over the years at WDW, several multiple times. All have been very worthwhile. The Marceline was one of the best. At the price, it is super!! Some can be quite costly. This one is $49. Backstage Magic is $275. Trek, I think, is seasonal, $190 to $230. All plus tax. AP, DVC, Disney Visa, all 15% discount, on all but not Trek, if still the same as in the past. Disney's tours are great.

I did the Wild Africa Trek with my 10 year old and it was amazing. There are also some shorter/less expensive options like Caring for Giants, Up close with Rhinos and Behind the Seeds Tour (we've done all but the Rhinos and like them a lot).

I thought the Marceline one was so boring. :rotfl::rotfl:

I couldn't wait for it to be over, but then I have the attention span of a gnat. ;);)::yes::::yes::

My husband could tell I was looking for an out and he said "you booked it, we're finishing it." :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Thanks! This is exactly the kind of tour my kids would love. They watch YouTube (TPM Vids, I think) nonstop.
Just have to wait another year, unfortunately....
