Best Toiletry Bag?

I would not. It is all soft. One good drop or squish and everything inside will be ruined.

Thanks - I am glad I asked before buying it. We were looking for a new toiletry bag but I think we will stick with the luggage type one that you can check in as luggage.

In case you didn't see the other post, LL Bean has a code for free shipping, 2373230. I just ordered the large in the blue floral.

I love that blue floral pattern, too! Thanks so much for posting the great pictures, Mom24Princesses. I'll probably opt for the huge one for me (flat iron, blow dryer along with everything else I carry will fill that baby right to the top :scared1: :lmao: ) and a smaller one (or two) for my teen sons.

Thanks for the free shipping code. How long is it valid?

I use BE as well and always had a hard time traveling with it. The powder would spill out above the holes. I read a tip and started using it. It really works. I cover the holes with a cotton ball and then screw the cap on. The amount of powder loose is minimal.

Ohh, thanks for that tip. I use BE as well. Very clever.

I still can't decide if I want the large or the family size LLbean. I think I am leaning for the family size since I don't seem to pack light.

Just noticed that the styling on these bags is slightly different than the others I'd been looking at. They must be the bags from last season. Still a great deal! ;)

They are a little different... the new ones have side zip pockets... not much different... I love them and I've got both.

The full sized one holds FULL sized bottles of shampoo etc. Good for if you have a family...

Hi - just my 2 cents.

I used to use a hanging toiletry bag, then recently just started putting everything into ziploc bags, then arranging it in the over the door shoe holder. My reasoning was that it was easier to pack/arrange it all in the suitcase (took up less space).

It's not as pretty, but the shoe holder offers so much space.

Same here, but we even skip the shoe holder. I find that so much of what I would normally pack in a toiletry bag has to be put in ziploc bags at the airport now so I don't even bother with a toiletry bag for myself anymore (I have an LLBean one). DH has a nice mens toiletry bag and what doesn't need to go in ziplocs goes in his bag.

DH and I travel a lot and we use a toiletry bag (and a cloth suitcase that has backpack straps, if you're looking for luggage) I found on Rick Steve's website. He has a lot of great space saving travel gear.

http://travelstore.ricksteves.com/

When it unzips it can be hung by a hook, has a built in mirror, and lotsof the pockets are mesh so things can dry out (toothbrushes, etc.)

Ours is MUCH smaller than the LLBean pics posted here, so would prob only work for a couple without kids. We toted ours all through Italy and Ireland and were not kind to it and it still looks great!

here here...I love my LandsEnd bag and also have an LL Bean bag. love them both...

What a great tip. I was wondering how to keep all that powder from coming through, and then if I took the top off to put it back in the bottom, it seemed to scatter everywhere. The cotton ball idea is fantastic, kudos to whoever came up with it.

That is a great tip! I was just looking at my BE this morning, and thinking about the mess of travel.

I've used that tip several times and it really cuts down the mess!
Now I just have to figure out how to travel with my WEN bottles

I also love my new Vera Bradley bag, but I use the Lola bag for cosmetics. It is fantastic because it holds all of my cosmetics, brushes in my brush case and it has the handles to move the bag around with ease.

I will bring my regular cosmetics in my carry-on-bag this next cruise but this time I will put my cream foundation, cream blush, concealer, mascara, eye primer, brow gel and gel eye liner in my quart size "goo" bag. We have a 3 hour layover in Detroit!!! I might as well put it on while I kill some time. I have been checking my cosmetics but this trip I will do the skin care at home then seperate the cosmetics into the "goo" bag group and the non "goo" bag group.

I also have BE and I loved the tip of the cotton ball. I just recently bought BE. I like BE but since I have extremely dry skin and our weather has been bitter cold which means no moisture in the air, my skin just can't handle the BE even with my dry skin routine. I looked like a croc! but I do expect when the humidity climbs I will be able to handle BE with no problems.

I just love this thread. I thought I was the only one who worried about the toilitries. I have a routine down, I use zip- lock bags for liquids but I also pack items in clear plastic "cosmetic" bags in groups: my skin care, husbands daily routine & shaver, hair care. It works. Then I use a lot and I do mean a lot of bubble wrap to protect items from breakage. All goes into a larger size rollerboard and gets checked.

We are usually in a cat. 3 so space isn't a problem in the bath area but I do like learning about the Llbean bags. I have wondered exactly what do they hold. I am tempted to buy my daughter one and one for my self.

Thanks,
Kathy
