Best Toiletry Bag?

We pack them inside our suitcase and check them with our luggage.

And which size do you have? I'm debating between the medium and large. I want something large enough, but yet easy enough to pack in a medium to large suitcase.

I have the large one and use travel size toiletries. You'd be amazed how many tubes and accessories you can put in this bag. My DD uses the small one, she just has the basics. My DH has the medium size for his stuff.

Those LLBean bags look great, but how do you carry them? Do you carry them separately or put them inside your suitcase?

We have the med, we put it in our carryon. If we are delayed or seperated from out luggage, we would still have all our toiletries, meds and my makeup.:thumbsup2

I have a question about the LL bean family size bag. Does it fit in your medium sized suitcase? Thanks!

If you pack it out - fill it up - it will take a lot of space.

LLBean states:
Large Fits toiletries and accessories, like a travel-size hair dryer. 12½"H x 9"W x 4"D. 1 lb.

Family-Size Roomy enough for a family; fits full-size bottles. 10"H x 12"W x 8"D. 1 lb. 4 oz.

I have the large and when I stuff it (really fill it) it is larger than stated above. (especially the 4 in deep) My large takes up at least 1/4 of a standard carry-on, maybe 1/3.

Give me a an hour or two and I'll shoot a pix of mine in a carry-on and post it. (DH is asleep - road a bus all night with 50 8th graders returning from WDW.)

I have med and family sized... the family one is huge!!! It will easily carry everything you need - especially if you are packing for the family. I love that you can take full sized bottles with you (I will be doing a month on the PC Repo cruise...) I also take it with me when I go to the lake and hang it in the closet - holds almost everything except my meds which I pack separately in my carry on.

The family sized comes with a shoulder strap and they all come with a handle.

I pack them in my suitcases. The family sized I put on the bottom of the largest suitcase I have. If you have anything that you think might leak, then put them in zip lock bags - I do just to be safe. The LL Bean bags do keep everything in place because it has so many pockets to slip stuff into it.

PACK IT FULL if you can or if you want. I put tons of stuff in it - right up to the top and then zip it around. I love it and if something does spill (I haven't had it yet...) then it's washable...

Good luck!

But with the new airline rules and size of liquids you can take can you still do this? Just wondering

You might also like to get a small sized one to carry anything you think you need with you until you get your luggage... travel sized items may help... and meds... always keep meds with you...

It took longer than I thought but here it is.

This is the large bag from LLBean in a standard carry-on. I think that you can have a slightly larger carry-on. This one is 21x14. I could have put a little more into the bag. You will notice it is the older style without the side pockets.

Your picture is so helpful. I was leaning towards the medium, but now that I see the large in your bag, I think I'll go with that.

Just curious, how do you take your toiletries in your carry-on though? With the liquid restrictions I mean.

Thank you for taking time to post pics! I have debating the large or family size for quite some time, and I think the large will be just fine. We're a family of 3, and don't use a hairdryer, etc.

Hi - just my 2 cents.

I used to use a hanging toiletry bag, then recently just started putting everything into ziploc bags, then arranging it in the over the door shoe holder. My reasoning was that it was easier to pack/arrange it all in the suitcase (took up less space).

It's not as pretty, but the shoe holder offers so much space.

It's just DH and I. We travel light. With the new restrictions on liquids, we have made some changes to our travel routine.

I use the Bare Escentuals make up (all Powder). I utilize the shampoos and conditioners that the hotels or cruise ship provides. We don't wear contacts so no contact solution for us. Travel size deoderants last for quite a long time. DH uses a shaving brush and soap, so no liquid there either. I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but hopes this helps.

Oops - meant to add that I DID NOT take it as a carry-on for that reason.
We are driving to the port and I will have it in a rolling duffel as a carry-on. I pack it in a checked bag when we fly. Sorry.

what do you keep your BE in?

I use BE as well and always had a hard time traveling with it. The powder would spill out above the holes. I read a tip and started using it. It really works. I cover the holes with a cotton ball and then screw the cap on. The amount of powder loose is minimal.

Can this bag be checked in on its own with luggage or is it not strong enough to withstand the abuse that luggage takes at the airports? Just wondering on why you would put it in the suitcase

I would not. It is all soft. One good drop or squish and everything inside will be ruined.
