Hi
We went to WDW in June two years ago and it poured buckets. We are going again this June (it didn't scare us away). What are your best tips for staying dry in the parks? Ponchos vs. umbrellas? Know any brands of that clothes dry quickly? Take a towel? All ideas are appreciated.
Thanks,
WisMom

Well I would definatly reccomend a poncho as opposed to an umbrella... it is not very safe in those kind of crowds. You can find very cheap ponchos at wal mart... I would buy a few for each and just toss them when I was done with them. You can also try to get a bright color that will stand out amaong the sea of yellow mickey mouse ponchos!! Alot of inside rides make you taje off your poncho to enter the rides so be prepared for that as well. I say even if it rains dont let it deter you from having a great time.

I agree with what skylarr said.. The poncho is definitely the way to go.. and they do make you take the poncho off when getting on a ride, but was a bummer for us, but totally understandable.. When me and DD8 went in September we only had 2 1/2 days at WDW so we made every minute count and we werent going to let rain stop us, so we continued to go from ride to ride and were amazed that we were able to walk right up to everything.. I have our ponchos packed for our trip next week :thumbsup2

Use ponchos. Avoid any cotton clothing and jeans. Stick with wicking fabrics (such as the newer polyester and nylon types) which will dry fast.

In June, you are bound to get rained on, so be prepared.

I think its best to not even try to stay dry, just get wet, and change your clothe when it stops

... And sports sandals. The kind meant for rafting, etc., that can get wet.

Wet sneakers are n-a-s-t-y, and thanks to FL humidity they won't dry out naturally for quite some time. Sandals are a much better choice.

Oh, and if you're female, do your hair in a way that won't be a disaster if it gets wet. Braids, ponytails, slicked with gel, etc.

I also agree about ponchos - but learned a valueable lesson on quality. One year we bought decent thick ones, but they were harder to carry when it quit raining. Last year we bought the really cheap ones and had Skylarr29's idea about throwing them away after using them, but found that during heavier rains, we got totally soaked in them anyway as opposed to the thicker ones from the year before. What we will do from now on is use the thicker ones and then put them in one of the smaller plastic merchandise bags after first use, then loop it through our camera bag strap to carry it.

I bought a Mickey ball cap to wear, that way my hair didn't get soaked and stringy.....also kept the rain off my glasses, lol.
