Hi,

I haven't even gone on my August trip yet and I'm planning my visit to DL for Halloween! :yay:

I can't believe that I've never been in October...however, I have gone in early November and it was nice.

I want to know when all of Halloween events are in full swing (I don't think I would go over the Halloween weekend) and when do they stop all of the Halloween events? Can you tell me what not to miss--what's special for that time of year?

Thanks in advance!

You might want to look at a thread on this page called "October check-in.....Halloween and more". There is a lot of information about planning a trip in October, such as which days you might want to avoid due to crowds, the dates and info. for the Trick or Treat parties, etc. It should help you with some of your planning. :)

The official dates for Halloweentime this year, according to the DLR website, are September 25 - November 1.

It's a great time of year at DLR, as they are making a bigger deal out of the Halloween season now.

So among the many things you can look forward to are:

- Haunted Mansion Holiday (the overlay of the HM done in the Nightmare Before Christmas motif)
- Mickey's Trick or Treat Party (usually held on Fridays and Saturdays in early October, and then more days are added as October porgresses); This takes place at night in DCA, and there are special PhotoPass set-ups just for the TOTP as well as lots of candy/treat stations for kids and adults alike, special merchandise, Pirate's Wharf and a projection of a jack-o-lantern in California Screamin'
- Woody's Halloween Round-Up (you can meet Woody, carve pumpkins in Disney character molds, decorate Halloween cookies and other crafts)
- Special seasonal goodies like pumpkin muffins and cupcakes and cookies, pumpkin latte and cider and things of that sort
- Candy Corn Acres (Located in DCA; there is a giant Candy Corn with a bite taken out of it by Heimlich, near the entrance of DCA)
- A Giant Mickey pumpkin at the entrance to Main Street
- All sorts of Disney character-pumpkins along Main Street and near the Partners statue
- Special PhotoPass opportunities and online effects/borders/enhancements
- Disney characters in Halloween costumes (I saw Goofy dressed as a skeleton and others dressed up too)
- Rarely seen Villains in the Hollywood area of DCA (usually with PhotoPass people)

And according to the DLR website, there might be some extra surprises this year too!

Here are some photos from the last two years at Halloweentime, including PhotoPass borders and special photo ops at the TOTP. This is only a portion of the things happening at DLR, but you can get a good idea this way:

Those are GREAT pics!.....Thanks for posting them.:) I'm having kind of a bad day today so seeing your pics of everything during Halloween time (and how much fun you're having), is helping me to feel better by thinking about our upcoming October trip. It's just the "medicine" that I needed tonight :worship:

Thank you so much! And...you're welcome!!:goodvibes I was thinking, "Darn, I wish I had gotten pictures of Woody's Halloween Round-Up to post," so I felt it was an incomplete representation of Halloweentime for the OP, but I am glad the pictures lifted your spirits! Truth be told, I have been having kind of a bad month in general - or a bad couple of months - and have not yet been feeling in the mood for DLR, even though I know it will cheer me up once I get there. I have a little one-day trip to DLR coming up in two weeks (to get my Fun Card), and I really don't like summer trips. Too hot for me. I prefer the holiday trips - especially Christmas time. But I was looking at other people's pictures on the DIS and then I decided to go back and look at my own - all in an effort to get myself in the mood - and it made me feel a little better too (although I was reminded of how my eyes are closed in a couple of the PhotoPass pictures, for some reason! Ugh!)!! But it also made me want to hurry and get done with summer so the holidays will be here faster!!:lmao: Both Halloween and Christmas are so fun at DLR!

Also, Goofyfordisney, I neglected to mention before that near the Rancho del Zocalo restaraunt there is a Day of the Dead display which is quite cool, and last year Frontierland had a 'Halloween tree' that was done up in spooky decor. I can't wait to see what the other "surprises" are for this year's Halloweentime!

We're going in early October and I love the pics! Thanks so much for those. Makes me more excited!

Sherry,

Thanks so much for posting all of those pics! I'm so excited to go now! :thumbsup2

You are both welcome! I am glad I helped build excitement somewhat! Honestly, I wasn't feeling very Disney-ish these last few weeks, but looking at my own fun pictures as well as those of other DIS-ers, I am now in a hurry to get there for Halloween (and Christmas, but one holiday at a time)! Halloweentime starts 9/25 and it cannot come soon enough!:cool1:

Anyway, in case you want even MORE Halloweentime at DLR photos, I compiled a list for you of many posts from our wonderful DIS-ers with all kinds of FANTASTIC photos, so you know what you have to look forward to this year. Here is the list (it will probably take you all day to look through them, but it is worth it because the pictures are GREAT!):

Sherry what day was that rain shot in your pics? did yo uget alotof rain on your trip?

That particular rainy shot of the Mickey Pumpkin was in 2007 (most of the other photos I posted were takne last year), I think, on the first day of the Halloweentime season, so it was September 21 (last year Halloweentime begna about one week later than it had in 2007).

Yes, it rained a lot, but then it would stop and get really hot for a while, and we would all be taking off our jackets to cool down, and then suddenly it would POUR again. I mean, a downpour, to where we got soaked. And then it was suddenly 80 degrees again! I would have to say that 9/21/07 was the strangest weather day I have ever had at DLR!

Now, last year we went on 10/2 - 10/5/08 and it was in the upper 90's on the first day:scared1:, then it droppped to the 80's the next day, then it dropped to the 70's the next day!!! October is a weird weather month in general, but the temperature changed drastically within the course of one weekend!!

Sherry this it totally OT but when in 2 weeks are you going? I will be down on the weekend in 2 weeks!

I am so excited to see DL in it's halloween decor. This year will be my first time. :)

I didn't realize you hadn't seen all of the Halloween stuff at DLR yet, Krissy! I think it is going to be a near miss for us again! (I remember we were both at DLR within mere days of each other last year and didn't get to meet.)

Because my stupid birthday is on a Tuesday (July 21) and I have to go on that day to get my Fun Card, then I will be there on that day, but just for a day, or about 1/2 a day! I don't like summer DLR trips as much anymore anyway, but I want my Fun Card so I have to go then!

Now I can't wait for Halloweentime too! I have worked myself from being apathetic about upcoming DLR visits into chomping at the bit for the holidays to get here! I can't wait to see what else they add in this year. I was getting anxious just looking at YellowMickeyPonchos' pictures of the carved pumpkins when I was compiling the Halloween photo links!!! September 25th cannot get here fast enough!

(And don't even get me started on how quickly I want November 20 to get there!:lmao:)

Bummer! I leave on the 20th lol Just missed you again. But we are moving down there in sept, my DH got transferred for work. So pretty soon maybe we can play a time to be there on the same day. :) And yes, my first halloween visit and we can't wait! Before we found out we were moving we were planning a trip down so this works out even better.

Oh, you will be able to go to DLR a lot once you move down this way! We definitely have to meet up - I am seriously lagging in meeting up with my DIS-friends! If I renew my AP this year (still up in the air), I really want to try to make more than one trip during the holidays and try to meet some people - like a weekend here and a day trip there, another day trip here - but then you will be at WDW for the holiday season, won't you? You and Mariezp are both WDW-bound for the Christmas season, and I hate you all!!:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

We will only be gone for 9 days in early dec. So still around...I plan to visit DL at least once during the holidays! I am hoping we'll renew our AP's too but who knows...the kids are still free, until march so we will try to visit often until then. :goodvibes

Thank you for posting all of the wonderful pics, we're going in mid-October and you've really help bring our imaginations to life :cool1:
