Hi everyone,

New here, but not new to Disney. We're leaving in a few days for Disneyland, but my experience is primarily at the World.

We're dying to ride Nemo, but worried about the lines first thing. We'll be there three days (Thursday - Saturday) and I was wondering when is the best time to wait for Nemo? Should we go right when we get there at opening, or wait until the end of the day, assuming that everyone and their brother goes there first?

Advice?

Thanks!

Friday morning. Line up 40 min. before opening (try to be near the front of the line) & you'll be on the first or second sub.....assuming you walk with a purpose to Nemo.

Or Thursday night right before closing.

Will you have Magic Morning priviledges? If so which day will you use them? & will you be at the gate for opening on Thurs?

Our flight gets in late on Wednesday, so we're likely to wait on our early morning until Friday or Saturday. However, we do plan to be at the gate early on Thursday.

Thanks!!!

Magic Mornings (Early Entry) for your trip will be Thursday and Saturday. If, on Thursday, you plan to be at the gates early for Magic Mornings (ie 1.5 hrs before REGULAR opening time) you will be fine for Nemo.

If, however, you plan to be at the gates early for regular opening, you will not have a short line for Nemo, since it will already have been open for an hour.

Your best bet is to:

1. Follow Hound's advice:
Friday morning. Line up 40 min. before opening (try to be near the front of the line) & you'll be on the first or second sub.....assuming you walk with a purpose to Nemo.

2. Get to the gates 40 minutes before MM opening on Th or Sat

3. Try for an night time ride just before closing. Hound is correct that Thursday will be your best chance for this, as Friday and Sat late night crowds are bigger.

Good Luck!

omg i forgot about nemo. Ok well id say walk right to it if you line up at rope drop on thursday morrning it would be less busy then weekend
and being at rope drop head right for it and you shouldnt have to wait to long

It just occured to me that if the OP is "leaving in a few days".....then Grad night would occur on a Thursday night (the next 3 thursdays).

To all....how would grad night affect the strategy of getting on Nemo prior to closing. (Since DL closes at 9pm on Grad night)?

BOT - I still think Friday AM (see above) would be the day to do Nemo & Thursday MM (or Sat. MM) would be the best time to do the Fantasyland MM tour. (which SHOULD be done during MM)

& if you're coming from Central or Eastern Time Zone then you should DEFINITELY do MM on your first day.

I was just wondering that, since our first MM is now, not a MM, I was going to try and hit Nemo at 9 that night...

I'm having a similar dillemma. We are going on a Tuesday-Friday in September. We will probably be going in this order:

1. use our Magic Morning on Tuesday,
2. DL at regular opening time on Wednesday,
3. DCA (or DL for non-MM rides) on Thursday and
4. then Friday DL opening.

Of these three options, which is the best to use on Nemo?

Also, I don't know if I want to waste an entire MM on just Nemo. On the other hand, if we wait until Friday (our last day), what if we don't get on Nemo?

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I had this similar question.

I still have yet to ride the Nemo Submarine ride. (have AP) The line is always too long for me. But if you get there first thing, I think that'll be the shortest line. Weekday is better v.s. weekend.

If you don't want to wait in the long lilne, or you are claustrophibic, or you don't want to sit in an un A/C ride on a hot summer day, there is another option. This is a secret so don't tell anyone, but you can "ride" in a separate room that is pretty big and is very a/c'd. We've done this twice now and it's very nice. First time we had to wait for a group to leave. Last time (May) there was no wait. Only your group will go in the room together, no other groups will. To enter the "module" go the the exit and tell the CM there you want to go in the room. You'll either be directed right into it, or be directed where to wait.

It's pretty cool-but you don't get to ride the subs. I plan on riding them sometime this winter.

Does everyone rush straight to Nemo at the rope drop? We'll be the week after next and I'm not sure how quickly the kids (5 and 6) will be able to walk. If we go straight to Nemo will there already be a big crowd ahead of us?

YES they do! The great thing is, it leaves Fantasyland totally empty. :rotfl2: I'm a proponent of ride-Nemo-last thing. We'll be there next Thursday night (a Grad night) and I'm not sure how that plan will work out, we'll try it though. I've never tried it so early in the evening. If it's still a long wait, we'll try to hit it first thing Friday morning. Those kids o' mine better be ready to run...:rotfl:

Another tip, may not make for the shortest line, but I may help some. Go during "something" Parade, Fireworks or Fantasmic. Also, be aware that if you are in line right at closing they will let you stay after park closes to ride.

anyhoo

Nemo is still currently the one ride that gets people up and to the security tents at 6 freakin' 15 a.m. on an 8 a.m. regular opening day, for MM at 7. Most people RUN. From what I saw, if you aren't very near the front of the turnstiles and/or rope drop at Main street, and you don't move VERY quickly, you are in for a 45 minute wait at least. You can do so much more in your MM time if you skip Nemo and do all the other FL rides.

Having done the Nemo stampede and been less than wowed with what is essentially a cute ride in a cramped space... I'm a proponent of "skip it, it's not worth the fuss." I'd try to watch it in the separate viewing room.

We did MM on Sat and after we finished at FL (which was empty because everyone was at Nemo) we walked over to Nemo around 7:50 and there was a 20 min wait so we decided to stay. Not bad considering I didn't see it under 1 hour the rest of the time we were there.

Okay, so I was planning, if my sister agrees, that when the gates open at 8 am we just go fast-walking there. Is there a problem with that. Is there going to be an above 30 miniute wait?

I would suggest going to Nemo on a non MM morning. That way, the crowd is dispersed throughout the park and then you can use your MM on all of FL and SM and Buzz.

I would also suggest following the cast members' directions. Some people that I saw tried to "shortcut" and when they arrived at the attraction, they were asked to go all the way to the end of the line.

By the way, does anyone know why they ask you to walk the LONG way around to Nemo?

We found the best (and really only way in our opinion) is to line up very early before opening. You gotta be up close to the gates though. This way when you go in you easily get to the front of the rope drop.

Then when they let you go, you quickly walk over to Nemo is a freakin hurry! We were on the second sub out this time. By the time we were getting on the sub the line was already well over an hour. Just crazy!

Late at night I hear is good, but we always saw it long at night. Probably depends on the crowd levels for the day too.

IMHO, you should ride Nemo using MM - I'd use Thursday. Be there very early ( if you are wating for security to open, that's good!)

You will need to walk very briskly!

You can then go straight to Fantasyland on anhother MM, if you have it, or at regular opening.

We never use MM for Buzz or Space, because these are fastpass rides, and so you can ride them anytime. Early mornings (MM or otherwise) are best for non FP rides, and for collecting FPS)

Send a runner to pick up a FP on your way to Fantasyland ( i wouldn't try it with nemo)

We were there in May and this strategy worked fine, and even though it was a quieter time, the queue through the rest of the day was the longest in the park.

If the worst comes to the worst...skip it! its a nice ride, but probably not worth more than 30 mins wait.

I did not hear the CM telling us to go the long way to Nemo, so I had to walk around the Matterhorn when I arrived at the main Nemo entrance(I think they do it because when Nemo gets nuts, the entrance is closer to the long way). Even then I had less than half an hour of waiting for Nemo this past Friday morning. I then fit Star Tours and Space Mountain with minimal waits as well.

I always have to chuckle when people lament that the line for Nemo is so long, so they'll try and hit it later. If you want to go on Nemo without a horrendous wait, make it the very first attraction you do in the morning.
