Best time to ride FEA without a FP

I checked touring plans yesterday morning around 8:45 (there were EMH) and the app said to wait until 9 as wait time would likely drop. The wait time was only 20 minutes which didn't seem that bad. Hopefully that trend continues into the next couple of weeks!

For both our end of June trip and our mid-July trip we did FEA without FPs late morning/early afternoon. In June our standby wait was 15 minutes, in July was 20 minutes.

Curious, when was that? Was there EMH that morning? Not at all doubting you, but I'm surprised. We've done it 4 different times that I can recall, dating back to last summer and never waited that long.

We were at Epcot on May 23 of this year. I can't remember if there was EMH or not but that's how long we waited.

Good to know about FEA without FP. We are doing 4 parks in 3 days in October so I have to pick a park to do without FP and I was thinking Epcot over DHS.

Since FEA standby isn't terrible in the morning I'd be better served doing Test Track first and then walking over to FEA, yea? We wanna do Soarin, TT and FEA but I was assuming FEA should be first. Now reading this I'm thinking not.

From what I can tell on touring plans you should do test track first because the wait for FEA isn't more than 20 min until over an hour after park open. I'm going in about two weeks and I'll let you know how it goes. I'm going to try TT first, then FEA.

Yes, the best way to hit all 3 (if you don't mind doing some brisk walking)

Go to Soarin' right at 9am.
Brisk walk to FEA for standby
Then to TT w/FP+

Doing that you can hit all 3 by 10am, easy. We did that many times. Or if you're a true rope drop person, as in show up 45 minutes before park open (we don't do this)....

Rope drop TT - walk fast
Brisk walk to Soarin'
FEA
This way is a lot more walking. You could try TT, then FEA, but the line for Soarin' may be a bit long by time you're done.

What if you want to do Soarin, frozen, and joy&sadness without any fast passes, which order would you do?

You could try Soarin', Joy/Sadness, and then Frozen if the lines remain as they've been. That would help reduce walking.

  • Today we were at Epcot(group of 12) . We rope dropped test track with a 15 minute wait. Then we went to Soar in with a 5 minute wait. At 10 went to FEA had about a 10 minute wait. All the posted wait times were higher than what we experienced. These were all done without fastpass.

I should point out, the day before my Epcot day I DID manage to snag a FEA FP. However, the day I was at Epcot, I was there basically from rope drop, so my sister and I ended up doing Soarin' first and then she went to go get her friend while I hung around. I walked over to FEA and the posted time was 20 minutes, so knowing that my sister and her friend wouldn't be there for at least an hour I jumped in the line and at the most waited maybe 10 minutes. I felt like the line never stopped moving honestly. I ended up going to see Anna and Elsa afterwards with NO wait.

So yeah, it worked out. My second Epcot day I had a FP but for like 4 p.m. I walked there from the IG after breakfast at the Boardwalk, thinking I would just go stand by, freeing up the rest of the day to take my time and do whatever. Well, it just so happened that was the day FEA was down pretty much all day. It was only like 12 p.m. at that point and figured it was a waste to wait for a ride that may not open, so after a leisurely walk around the showcase, I jumped on Single Rider for Test Track and then left the park to go to MK for the afternoon.
