I started this post to get ideas from those who like to ride certain rides, during the day or while they are at the park.

For instance...
I noticed California Screamin is epic during dusk hours, because of the sunset and the lights on the Board Walk.
I also enjoy riding Pirates of the Caribbean at night, for some reason it adds fuel to the fire.

any thoughts

...and tower of terror at night. I have heard that riding big thunder during fire works can be cool. Also
Jungle Cruise at night gives it a new spin.

I actually prefer most rides at night. I find it more magical. I also love riding rides during fireworks. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is the best fireworks ride.

Big Thunder at dusk was a big hit with the kids. We rode it many times during the day and finally on our last night rode it one last time, ok three last times, and we all agreed the colors and darkness made it better. Next time we'll do it during fireworks.

Ditto. BTMRR with the fireworks going off is amazing. This should be on everyones "bucket list" of things to do at DL

I did ToT at night, while the fireworks were going. It was pretty neat. Made even better by some glitch in the line behind us, so Wifey and I had the whole elevator to ourselves.

We get to the top the doors open and there were the fireworks going at DL. Pretty magical!

Radiator springs racers is great at night too! It's a great ride but with the rock work and waterfall lit up it is magical.

I'll give a shout out to visiting the Tiki Room garden and then the show in the high heat of day. It's the place to be when your feet are sore and your brow is beaded with sweat. The garden is shady, has plenty of seating, a humorous tiki-focused preshow, and best of all affords you easy access to a Dole Whip - perhaps the most refreshing treat in Dland. My family can hang out in the garden a good 20 minutes while enjoying iced pineapple spears and Dole Whip. We watch several groups of people go into the show as we are in no rush. It is our tiki-time. We talk about replicating the Tiki Room garden in our backyard. Then at last we are ready for the show itself which is dark, air conditioned and so much campy fun.

I think that would be horrible as I'd be missing the fireworks! I will never ever EVER miss a Fireworks show in the best area! Even after 30+ shows - not sick of it.

My all time favorite ride at night is Big Thunder. I have more experience with it at WDW, but I'm sure it's just as cool at DL! As someone else mentioned, Jungle Cruise is cool at night. Kind of eerie, but I wouldn't go out of my way to ride it at night. Storybook Land Canal is also cool at night.

Agreed!!! BTMRR is one of our faves in the dark.... I hear RSR is great at night too, looking forward to trying it this November!

I love riding POTC, HM, and Jungle Cruise at night. I have yet to ride Screamin' or BTMRR at night, but both are definitely on my must-do list!

everyone should ride California Screamin @ dusk, it's epic. Wow, how do you folks time the fireworks and riding Big Thunder? Oh yeah and Story book Land is great @ night.

When I went on Big Thunder during the fireworks it was a complete accident! There was practically no line, so my friend and I walked on and the fireworks started about 20 seconds into the ride. It was perfect, I would probably never be able to do it again if I planned it haha

We love PoTC at night, especially if it is close to park closing. On our last night a couple of trips ago we decided to ride it for our last ride. We ended up going over and over and over again, probably rode it 6 times in a row because no one was in line. Our feet were sore, we were tired after being in the park for 5 days and it just seemed like a perfect finish to a perfect trip.

I also like JC at night as well. Kinda neat but I've only done it once.

Splash during the day because we get too cold on it at night -- we are never there in the summer.

I totally agree with others saying that BTMRR is the best to ride during fireworks. We didn't plan to but on our trip this April we ended up riding it during them, it was an awesome experience! Everyone on board was laughing and cheering :)

Otherwise, I love screamin at night. Never have done Matterhorn at night but I imagine that would be pretty cool to see!

I like pretty much any ride at night, but a ride I don't like at night is finding nemo. Takes away from that first part of the ride because you can't see all the pretty colors of the plants as well!

I agree, BTMRR and Jungle Cruise are great at night. Last night the boat before us on JC broke down and we were stuck in the water by the dancing natives for about 15 minutes. That was a real trip! ::yes:: They gave us a FP for any ride for the "inconvenience", very nice of them!

Fantasy Land, after the fireworks. A lot of families with small children leave after the fireworks, so this area is less busy and the lines are much shorter. More time to play with the apple by Snow White!:thumbsup2

Doesn't work for Peter Pan, though. That one is always busy! :crowded:

Also, if you're not going to watch Fantasmic (or burning time til the 1st show is over) the lines for Pirates, Haunted Mansion, and Splash Mountain are extra short during the show. I love Splash at night! (As long as I can go change into nice, warm, dry jammies after.)

Same. It was SO awesome! Truly magical. Looking forward to trying some other suggestions her.

Most of my favorite ride/time combos have been covered here:

-Tiki Room with Dole Whip midday
-Big Thunder during fireworks
-Tower of Terror at night
-Storybook Canals at night (also good during fireworks)
-Autopia at night
