Best time to make FP reservations

I couldn't believe the FP line for EE the other day. My 60 day window is 4/7 and I'm wondering if there is a better time of day to make FP reservations. Do the lines get longer as the day goes by or is it pretty much constant.

I would like to make the times mid-day but will get up early if that means the FP line will be shorter.

Getting very excited (and it's my 21st trip)

Not sure that the time of day makes any consistent difference. The backup in FP+ lines seems to be largely due to guests being in line for the wrong ride and/or at the wrong time or not having a FP+ at all, and it takes time for the CMs to clear them out of the way and keep the line moving. We were in a FP+ line for EE last week that was fairly long, although not all the way back to Nemo, as others have described. But it only took us about 6 minutes to get to the first FP+ scanner. We encountered similar lines at the safari in AK and at Big Thunder at MK, and, again, although the lines looked intimidating at first, it never took us more than 8 minutes to get to the scanner, and then it was straight on through the queue to the ride. CMs are trying to speed things along by asking only one member of the paty to scan, since they can see from that how many have FP+ for that time.

If Disney is running a rational system, there would be no difference in FP line lengths in any part of the day, because they would be distributing FP evenly throughout each period of time. They wouldn't be giving out an unlimited supplies of FP during the 3 PM hour just because demand is high during that time.
