I'm about to book a cruise! :) ... But just wondered what would be the best time to go for... warm/hot weather, calm seas etc.

Thanks

when cruising last November I asked my pedicure gal the same question -- she had been on board the Magic for 7 years (memory a bit fuzzy but about the time)

she suggested April/May for calm seas

For the past 5 years we have done our cruise on the Magic the last 2 weeks of Oct or first 2 of Nov. Water at CC is still warm enough to get in. Nov is pushing it. I would think it would be pretty cool in April/ May as well.

If you are looking for low rates this is a good time to go as well.

how is march weather for going clam seas, warm weather, hows the water, we would be doing the eastern.

Hurricane season is June- November so I wouldn't recommend those times if you're looking for the best weather. I've heard May is absolutely wonderful and the rates are pretty good.

We went in May and it was fabulous. Calm seas, warm weather, etc. Just perfect. Going again in May 2008. :cool1:

We love January. Weather was perfect - low to mid 80s. Water was fine. My suggestion is January.

We loved the first of June. Perfect weather, perfect water temperature, and not too hot, either. :)

Best chance for good weather! Of course, it depends which cruise you are taking. If taking the 3 or 4 night, which only does the Bahamas, the water is usually pretty chilly in late fall/winter/early spring. If you do a 7 night, the other ports (being further south) might not be that cold.

First week of May was awesome, we cruised the end of april and first week of May 3 times and it was great. We cruised once in Jan and would never do it again, to cold, couldn't even enjoy the beach at CC, we sat there with sweatshirts on!

We've done April & Feburary. The weather was great both times. We were all in the water at St. Thomas and CC last Feb. I don't think the water down there ever gets too cold.

We've gone in early Sept and mid/late October...and have beautiful weather both times. Of course BOTH times our cruise was re-routed totally....But we did have warm sunny weather...and CALM CALM seas almost every day. Our third cruise is planned for Sept again :thumbsup2

We love the end of Apr/ early May. The rates are great, the weather is great, CC water is nice, not as warm as it just was this past Aug., but still nice. The water's smooth. Just a good time. We probably won't do Aug. again. Pretty hot in Fl, although it wasn't too bad on the ship or in the ports. My biggest thing was it being warm at home so it wasn't quite as special when we were on vacation. I love travelling after being cooped up all winter. I won't travel before the clocks change in Apr. I just like that extra hour of daylight, and we've been in Fl a few times in Mar. and have had chilly weather. We've also cruised in Jan. on RCCL, and never again. Windy, choppy water, wasn't able to spend a lot of time on the decks.

Have gone on a cruise for the past 7 years during hurricane season. With the exception of one year we have had fabulous weather. 5 perfect days at CC, SCUBA diving in St Thomas, all great trips. The one year there was a tropical storm off St Marrten and it was a bit rouch. Fortunately, we did not schedule any excursions through DCL and planned on doing our own thing. We had a great time playing in the surf at Orient Beach and horse back riding. All the DCL excursions had to cancelled.

During this time of the year we have avg about $750 per persong for the 7 day DCL trips over the past 5 years. The first 2 years were on Carnival where we paid $399 and $499 for 7 day cruises.

I think they are heading to the Med next May, though. But it is a great time to go.

Aprilgail, we've probably been on some of the same cruises. I think we've gone the end of Apr/beg. of May in '02, '03, '04.

They have an Eastern on 4/28 and a Western on 5/5. After that the ship heads to the Mediterranean until 9/1. We had thought about doing these two cruises, but opted to go the last week of September and the first week of October. The price was nearly half that time of year for a catagory 6. We have been on two Disney cruises during the month of May. The first one the weather was perfect and you could barely feel the ship move. The next year the seas were rougher and you could really feel the ship rock. And the weather was cloudy and cooler the first half of the week. All in all I would still say that May is a great month to go.
